Sixx Posted July 1, 2012 Posted July 1, 2012 I just seen this on tv today...I recorded the series...it's on the bbc channel. This guy , well , he talks about more than just models. I noticed a few episodes deal with things like legos, plasticene clay, alot of toy stuff, but todays show was on Airfix models, trying to build a 1:1 scale model...sprues an all, kind of a neat show so far, just thought I'd throw that out there
Monty Posted July 1, 2012 Posted July 1, 2012 I think he ended up doing six shows related to the toys of his youth. IIRC, they were about Legos (had an actual house built with them), model airplanes (full-sized plastic Spitfire buit by kids), Slot cars (loooooooooonnnnnggg track), model railroading (track ran between cities), an Erector set type of toy that was used to make a bridge across a stream (?) and something to do with modeling clay.
RodneyBad Posted July 1, 2012 Posted July 1, 2012 Watched my first Episode of it this morning. The 1:1 AirFix SpitFire He did a good job getting more teens into building models
Fat Brian Posted July 1, 2012 Posted July 1, 2012 I was hoping other people saw this, I've seen all of the other episodes but somehow missed this one. For all the ribbing he takes Captain Slow is a pretty interesting guy.
Harold Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 I saw the one with the Scalectrix track laid out on the old Brooklands circuit. They may call James Captain Slow, but he took both a Veyron and Veyron Super Sports to their top speeds.
RodneyBad Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 All Episodes will be on this Friday (on BBC) if ya missed them.
Joe Handley Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 That was a neat series of shows to watch, it was kinda funny to watch the plasticene garden and how close to real their garden turned out....and how many people didn't get the whole concept at the flower show it was entered in.
Tony T Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 Thanks for posting the video link...just watched the Airfix Spitfire episode...awesome!!
Chuck Most Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 The 1:1 Spitfire had to be one of my all-time favorite TV moments. The plasticene garden was pretty cool too, but just seeing that full-scale kit was so cool! Gotta love the James May pilot figure, too.
