So i'm sitting here just waiting for the power to go out again... and saw another thread about "Cars" cars. The OP was wondering what to use to make a Lightening McQueen, which in my opinion that name is an homage to Steve McQueen, although i've never heard it brought up before.

At any rate, it got me to thinking, there are a boatload of 1:1, diecasts, artworks and more out there of custom cars and a whole slew of characters from the movies like Cars one and two. So I thought a cool thread would be, if you were going to build a model of a particular car "What would YOU use?"

Here's the Twin Mill III

The front end is obviously Corvette based, but I have no idea WHERE to go with the back half.

The Surf Crate has always been one of my faves...

but I have no clue where to start.

Another one I would love to see in 1/25th is the MantaRay

A complete sculpt, or is there a base one could start with?

Guys, please chime in with your likes. If you have a plan, let us in on it. If you want some suggestions on where to start, post them here and let the many great minds on the board help you out! :)

Surf crate ( mine is purple ) would be great.I love the Mantaray. With all the goofy kits out there, its surprising this was never done in styrene.

The manta ray could be built out of the funky vette kit. Like Ira built for the hawg air filter. Maybe that's just my imagination.

I know right? It's been in movies and was a staple at car shows for quite some time. Maybe Dean Jeffries wanted too much in licensing?

Joshua, do you have a link? I would like to see what you mean by the "hawg air filter".

Do I see a familiar background in those pics Kev? :D

 Color me copycat! After seeing yours the other day and hearing what you paid I couldn't pass it up! Much better computer stand than I had, thanks for the tip! :)

I have been kicking around doing something like the Twin Mill for a while now. I'd start with the Olds Aero or a 80's/90's Vette. The back half - maybe the Tim Burton Batmobile kit or the one from Batman Forever . There would an awful lot of scratching.

According to the Lightning McQueen wiki the character was named after Glenn McQueen, an animator who died of cancer.
