Ace-Garageguy Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 I'm seeing a LOT of pickups posted in Under Glass and also WIPs in Workbench. They don't seem to be getting moved. What's the deal? Are they supposed to go in the truck section, like it says, or is it okay to post them with the cars? I'm asking because I've got several custom hot-rod trucks I'd like to post, and I just want to follow the rules. Seems like they get more views in with the cars. Thanks.
Guest Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 Definitely in the "Pickup,Vans,SUVs and Light Commercial Trucks" section. This has been discussed before and apparently people wanted a seperate section for these types of builds and Gregg obliged them. Personally, I wish he would do away with it and again allow pickups and such to be posted in the "Under Glass" section, but that's just my opinion. It's one of those cases of "careful what you wish for,you just might get it". You're right in that pickup builds would probably get more views in the "Under Glass" section, but they aren't allowed. Harry mentioned at one time about having an "Under Glass" section in the pickups section. That would be a good addition. But so far, it hasn't happened.
Harry P. Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 I'm seeing a LOT of pickups posted in Under Glass and also WIPs in Workbench. They don't seem to be getting moved. What's the deal? They get moved if I see them. I can't see them all, but when I do see something posted where it's not supposed to be, I move it.
Casey Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 Are the Truck "Under Glass" and "On the Workbench" categories staying as they are now? I didn't want to move anything until that was decided.
Harry P. Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 Are the Truck "Under Glass" and "On the Workbench" categories staying as they are now? I didn't want to move anything until that was decided. Everything stays as is... at least for the foreseeable future.
Austin T Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 I kinda wish I could see ALL vehicular models in one under the glass section so that way I don't have to go click and go everywheres to see a beautifully made model,I mean some times I start to get lost lol.
Guest Johnny Posted July 8, 2012 Posted July 8, 2012 Under glass should be just that any and all finshed models. This is really getting to anal and all because of a few well connected complainers. Comeone guys this site is for everyone to enjoy not the chosen few! Haven't you heard of desegregation???
Harry P. Posted July 8, 2012 Posted July 8, 2012 Comeone guys this site is for everyone to enjoy not the chosen few! What in the world does that mean???
MAGNUM4342 Posted July 8, 2012 Posted July 8, 2012 What in the world does that mean??? I believe he meant- "Come on guys, this site..." Unfortunately he doesn't seem to understand. Wether it's for everyone to enjoy or not, there still has to be rules as well as an easy to follow layout. Does nobody here realise it's impossible to please everyone all at once? Alot of folks here, not necessarily that poster in particular, but alot seem to feel the place should be set up THIER WAY. Rather than the way the site owner wants it. When they start paying for the site (or thier own) they can set it up any way they want. Until such time, just appreciate the site we have for what it is. How about it?
Harry P. Posted July 8, 2012 Posted July 8, 2012 I believe he meant- "Come on guys, this site..." Yeah, I know what he was trying to say, but what does that mean? How is this site set up so that only the "chosen few" can enjoy it? Who are the "chosen few" and why is it that only they can enjoy this site and nobody else? I mean, that comment makes no sense at all, even if he would have typed it correctly. It's just nonsense.
Casey Posted July 8, 2012 Posted July 8, 2012 The first 40 pages of Model Cars - On The Workbench hav ebeen cleared of non-car subjects, so if you see a non-car subject there and think it shoul dbe moved, please PM me. Ditto for any other sections. As an FYI, I consider El Caminos, Rancheros and any other vehicles with beds trucks, so that's where you'll find them. If I feel it fits better into on the of more sepcific categories, such as NASCAR, Drag, etc., that's where it'll be found. There will always be debate about what fits better where, so please let's not dredge up that debate again. Let's work with the categories as they are now and accept the changes, regardless if you agree with them or not. Looking at the big picture, what's important is what you post, not where it's posted.
sjordan2 Posted July 8, 2012 Posted July 8, 2012 (edited) All of the management here have been trying hard to organize this forum in ways that make the most sense and make it more user-friendly, and there's a certain amount of trial and error involved. But let's look at the scaleautomag.com forum for a minute. They differ by having the main forum broken up into categories by the type of car being built. This is good, but the problem is that they have no differentiation between what's in progress and when it's finished. So you have to go through each individual thread to find a page where a build on the workbench is now under glass. That's their biggest downfall, and it's a pain. But I think if we had WIPs and Under Glass for each different model type here, that would get pretty unmanageable. I don't have an answer. But maybe if all trucks fit with everything else into the general On the Workbench topics where appropriate, and if everything in Trucks would be required to be under glass, that might work - retitle that subforum to Trucks Under Glass. Or not. Honestly, I don't see the point in having a separate Trucks forum. The thread titles in On the Workbench or Under Glass should tell you what the thread's about, and you can skip it if you're not into trucks. Edited July 8, 2012 by sjordan2
crazyjim Posted July 8, 2012 Posted July 8, 2012 I just go to view new topics. That way I should see car, trucks, WIPs, under glass, tutorials - everything. Right?
mistermodel Posted July 8, 2012 Posted July 8, 2012 Under glass should be just that any and all finshed models. This is really getting to anal and all because of a few well connected complainers. Comeone guys this site is for everyone to enjoy not the chosen few! Haven't you heard of desegregation??? The pick up builds should be put where the moderators want them. things have been organized and reorganized to give the truck models a place Why would you answer "under glass should be just that any and all finished models" thats not the place
MAGNUM4342 Posted July 8, 2012 Posted July 8, 2012 Sorry, but to me it boils down to two things. One is that some folks are just too lazy to scroll down and click on the proper tab and two- it's sour grapes from some whiney-the-poohs who think they have a better way to set up the forums. Maybe they do, maybe they don't but it isn't thier forum so they just whine about why it isn't set up thier way. The preceeding statement is not directed at the O.P. All sections are clearly marked. If you can't be bothered to scroll down to the trucks section or whatever section you need whose fault is it?
Harry P. Posted July 8, 2012 Posted July 8, 2012 All sections are clearly marked. If you can't be bothered to scroll down to the trucks section or whatever section you need whose fault is it? Exactly. For the life of me I don't understand people who keep whining about the fact that some topics are further down the page than others... as if scrolling down a web page was some sort of inhumane torture, or incredibly difficult to do. Seriously... if you complain about the fact that you have to scroll down a page to see all the content, do you also complain that you have to turn the page in order to keep reading a book?
Casey Posted July 8, 2012 Posted July 8, 2012 The O.P.s question has been answered. I'm seeing a LOT of pickups posted in Under Glass and also WIPs in Workbench. Thanks. I was waiting for Harry to decide if there would be separate "Under Glass" and "On The WOrkbench" categories in the Model Trucks section, but that has been decided, so I started goign through the Model Care- OTB and UG sections last night, moving any non-car topics. Again, if anyone has a concern, complaint, or issue withe where something is posted, feel free to PM me and let me know. As Harry stated, we don't catch everything, but we do try to make sure things are posted where they belong.
Big Daddy Posted July 9, 2012 Posted July 9, 2012 There is only one way to put an end to the whole thing and that is for the hire aboves to make a final decision instead of letting it go on and on and on, it's like beating a dead horse people, the poll says what the majority want, the majority have said what they want.why these polls are put in place and why ask for peoples opinion if your not going to listen is beyond me
Harry P. Posted July 9, 2012 Posted July 9, 2012 There is only one way to put an end to the whole thing and that is for the hire aboves to make a final decision instead of letting it go on and on and on, The final decision was made a long time ago. We have a section for model cars and a section for model trucks. Why do some of you people still not get that?
mistermodel Posted July 9, 2012 Posted July 9, 2012 The final decision was made a long time ago. We have a section for model cars and a section for model trucks. Why do some of you people still not get that? Harry,we need a new thread to answer your question, lets stay on topic
Fat Brian Posted July 9, 2012 Posted July 9, 2012 Maybe if there was a under glass section in the trucks section it would be more clear. The big rigs and light truck sections can be used like the workbench section in the cars area and all finished truck models can go in the truck specific under glass section.
Harry P. Posted July 9, 2012 Posted July 9, 2012 Maybe if there was a under glass section in the trucks section it would be more clear. If you read the descriptions for each section, it's already pretty clear. Not sure why some people still don't get it.
Fat Brian Posted July 9, 2012 Posted July 9, 2012 I'm just spitballin' here, trying to ease dischord.
Big Daddy Posted July 9, 2012 Posted July 9, 2012 The final decision was made a long time ago. We have a section for model cars and a section for model trucks. Why do some of you people still not get that? So why not post a sticky note and say it's this way and thats it thats all, instead of letting it go on and on
