rel14 Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 Just wondering how many can identify parts by looking at them... Like if you had a big box of frames,, could you identiy them, or any box of parts, could you tell what there from and go to. .
Mike Kucaba Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 Depends. Sometimes I have seen painted parts and can't recall where they came from, but after stripping the paint the plastic color helps. I have a hard time though with all the "kitschy" kits that MPC modeled aimed at kids in the late 60's- 70's.
LoneWolf15 Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 Scary part of it ? I usually can . Drives Kathie crazy at times when we " consolidate " the ever growing monster . After 50 years of playing with countless numbers of Amt , MPC , etc, I should be able to identify most , if not all of the parts . She'll bring a box of loose parts to me , I go through it , tell her which is what to this or that kit , she just laughs ! Tells me I need help , could this be true ? Lol !
bbowser Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 If it's a kit I've built before I can usually tell. It is a bit scary sometimes
CaptainAhab Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 haha Donn..Priceless. I dont think you need help
my80malibu Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 I used to be really good at it however other things have taken over in life and its not as easy anymore
62rebel Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 i can probably ID 90% of the parts i have except mag wheels. i have a heck of a time trying to pull together a full set from my parts boxes.... but nearly all of the regular parts are identifiable. generic parts are the toughest.
slusher Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 l have to say some yes and some no. lf l have built it before l can. wheels can be the hardest at times. This is a very good ldea just to test our skill like a triva game useing pictures....Slusher
disabled modeler Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 I usually can with most of them....years of building....long as the memory works right...LOL...
