W-409 Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 This is Fantastic Glue Bomb Restore! I've always liked '68 Impala and it's a shame that they are expensive. Revell, would it be good idea to make one Model Kit of '68 Impala too ? You did good job with restoring the body. I don't understand the foil casting. Tried it once, or twice but both times I failed. How you guys do it? Good job with the paint too, and wheel choice is just right.
S. Svendsen Posted July 18, 2012 Author Posted July 18, 2012 (edited) For foil casting I use regular tin foil and rub an impression over the emblem or trim part I want to replicate. Then I fill the back side of the foil with a thin coat of five minute epoxy and cut out the piece when dried. Edited July 19, 2012 by S. Svendsen
MichaelJ Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 DUDE, I grew up learning in one just like it,(307-2bbl). 14 years old in an apple field.. GREAT ,JUST FANTASTY.... MIKEJ...
S. Svendsen Posted July 19, 2012 Author Posted July 19, 2012 Very nice Impala Sean! How did you do your gills on the front fenders? I painted mine with chrome paint, but it barely shows up. I'm thinking I may have to try to foil them. I baremetal foiled the side gills. I hand painted the back edge black just like the real car.
Guest Johnny Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 A rare car in 1:1 let alone in plastic! Beautifully done!
charlie8575 Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 I like this a lot. Nice color, one of the nicer designs of the period, too. And a great build. Charlie Larkin
