martinfan5 Posted July 28, 2012 Posted July 28, 2012 Here is Revell Of Germany's BMW Alpina kit, I will say what a very ill fitting kit, I got to the point were I just wanted to get it done. It was a OOB , I did lower the ride height, and I think i went to low in the front.
Brizio Posted July 28, 2012 Posted July 28, 2012 Very nice! Good luck driving it in GB with the steering wheels on the right side!
martinfan5 Posted July 28, 2012 Author Posted July 28, 2012 Very nice! Good luck driving it in GB with the steering wheels on the right side! Yeah I know , we will say the owner of the car had it before moving to GB, yeah, thats the story

martinfan5 Posted July 28, 2012 Author Posted July 28, 2012 Ist das ein ausländisches Auto? Nizza bauen, Heuschrecke!! Ja, es ist, es ist ein Bratwurst-Herd Danke
Harry P. Posted July 28, 2012 Posted July 28, 2012 So what specifically was the problem with the kit?
martinfan5 Posted July 28, 2012 Author Posted July 28, 2012 So what specifically was the problem with the kit? Fit issues, the kit ride height was too high, the hood did not fit, needed to be sanded on the sides to fit, the chrome grill inserts did not fit, the chassis to body fitment is bad, I had to superglue the front part of the chassis to the body . The two part seats do not fit together very well, but the glass fits greats. I had problems with the windshield wipers causing the hood to close, so they are not on there at the moment.
Harry P. Posted July 28, 2012 Posted July 28, 2012 And here I thought ROG had a reputation for well-engineered kits. Guess I was wrong.
Volvoman Posted July 28, 2012 Posted July 28, 2012 Nice build on your BMW ,I especially like the colour and the stance does'nt look that bad in my opinion.I really would'nt worry about it being a left hooker, we occasionally get left hand drive BMW's in the UK from time to time, just say that it is from the continent and that its been reregistered!!
martinfan5 Posted July 28, 2012 Author Posted July 28, 2012 And here I thought ROG had a reputation for well-engineered kits. Guess I was wrong. The newer ROG kits are a lot better , its the older ones that have problems I guess, going by the year on the box, its was made in 1992
Scuderia Posted July 28, 2012 Posted July 28, 2012 That stinks that it gave you so much grief. The proportions on the body look a lil goofy too. Not one of their better efforts, but you did good with it considering.
Lownslow Posted July 29, 2012 Posted July 29, 2012 youre not lying i built one years ago its a fighter to get finished
Jim N Posted July 29, 2012 Posted July 29, 2012 You did a good job.I couldn't tell the problems you had based on the pictures.
peter31a Posted July 29, 2012 Posted July 29, 2012 Great job on the BMW. As others have said it turned really well and you can't tell it fought you.
Dominik Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 (edited) And here I thought ROG had a reputation for well-engineered kits. Guess I was wrong. ...like other said: the newer kits are more better then this old one. Similar to the Porsche 911 Convertible (G-Modell), VW Bug or others out of this area are terrible to built and the proportions are bad. And if they "warmed up" the old kits a la Porsch 911 2.7 RS or Mercedes Benz 190 SL - they are the first issues in new Cover. Let the hands of of this kits. But if you choose the ROG Ferrari kits (for example) of the newer decades - they fit perfect. Also the Corvette Racing Version. Edited August 3, 2012 by Dominik
Olskoolrodder Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 Well it looks great despite the hassles you had Jonathan,IMHO
