Time to start my next my NASCAR build, my user name may say martinfan, but I have always been a Ernie Irvan fan, going back to the days of him driving Morgan McClure racing Kodak olds/chevy. Well I am on a quest now to do all of his rides that there are decals for, and this is one that I have not done yet.

Here is what the car looked like

I have the decals ordered , as well as the #56 Earnhardt chevy decals to that ride .

And here is the body, time to get started.

I remember Chad Little in the 19 with the same livery. I always found it easy to spot and cheer on. You might get me inspired to pull out one of the T-birds I've got statched and try to finish this.

Are you going to become as obsessed as Old Coyote with Terry Labonte? :P I don't recall Ernie in that car but it looks good.

I dont think so  , I do want to get them done, but I am not going to devote all my modeling time :o

I think he drove this car a few years, but need to double check

Dont have a lot to update, but all the chassis parts are painted, I painted the wheels, used satin black on the wheels, the chassis is a light grey that I mixed up myself,

Did something for the first time, I sanded down the mold lines on the tires, and it will be the last time I do that by hand

Looks good so far, and almost makes ME want to build a Nascar racer, lol.

Back in the 80s, Anderson SC Speedway had just went from dirt to pavement, and we were running dirt late models on asphalt tires on Friday nights. Every week we parked next to Ernie...he was running #5, if I remember correctly. It was just him and another older guy, I believe it might've been his dad...not much of a crew, but he ran good. He never had much to say, never knew if he was just quiet or anti-social, lol.

Minor suggestion....if you want to get rid of half the shocks on the rear, you'll be ok. They haven't ran dual shocks since the 70s.

I forgot about the dual shocks, its been awhile since I built and older NASCAR kit

Here is how its looking right now with the decals ,

and here you can see where the decals started cracking

I think you enjoy pointing out my spelling mistakes

No, It pains me, Grasshopper.

But since Brother G is way too kind and benevolent to bring these things up, all the heavy lifting falls upon my broad shoulders.

Besides, MartinFan5(5) and IravnFan90, if not me, who?
