Agent G Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 I am a grilling fool. I can also work in a kitchen with the best of the home chefs. MrsG on the other hand, has elevated cooking to an art form. I therefore remain on the couch unless the entree requires fire.................... G
The70judgeman Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 Weather permitting I'm Grillin'. The House favorite is Smoked BBQ Chicken. The Chicken gets an hour or so of hot intense Hickory Smoke followed by a pile HOT of Briquets in the otherside of the Smoker/Gril for indirect heatl. Close the Lid and walk away for at least an hour or so. The combo of hot smoke and high heat seals in all the Juices which results in insanely moist Meat and dry crunchy skin. No seasoning is needed so if you know someone on a low or sodium free diet here ya go. If your Smoker Grill is big enough this works from Game Hens to Turkeys! And before returning to Modeling be Sure to Wash hands VERY Well because Paint will not stick to anything touched by fingers that has held this Chicken Oh yeah...that looks good! Reminded me of the hickory smoked bone in pork loin roast on the grill. Like your chicken...no seasoning needed, just awesome juicy smokey goodness.
Dr. Cranky Posted July 31, 2012 Author Posted July 31, 2012 Derrick, I am going to have to go over to your house for some of that food and beer, and then we can go out and shoot us some Zombies. LOL.
FatManScaleDesigns Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 I agree with Crankys very first post. My wife makes me killer beer bratwursts with noodles through them and uses Alfredo. That with a nice tall cup of Orange Hi-c. PS I can't cook. LOL
charlie8575 Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 Those chicken kabobs look quite good. I need to hit the one of the Armenian church picnics before the end of the summer. I'm overdue for some shish kabob done properly and some kef (party) music! End of the week, I'm planning on hitting the Portugese Festival in New Bedford to see some friends from when I lived down there and getting some carne no espete, or, literally, "meat on a stick." A wonderful concotion of spicy-marinated sirloin tips, onions, peppers and lingucia finished on the grille. A wonderful meal if ever there were one! Charlie Larkin
Jantrix Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 I have no interest. If left to my own cooking devices, it would be "whatevers fastest, taste is optional". When I was married, I told her I would do anything/everything she needed/wanted except cook. She's very good herself and enjoys it (so long as I do the cleaning) so we're all square.
tabsscale1 Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 MY kids would say my best stuff I cook would be Spagetti with a meet sauce or my sweet and sour chicken. I can make just about anuthing as long as i have the ingredienrs. as i can make gooey cinnamon rolls to a smoked turkey . My wife a;ways complains about me being able to go into the kitchen and being able tojust throw something togetjer and it always comes out good. She can't do that as she needs a recipe to follow. By the wayeverthing tastes better when made from scratch..
Crazy Ed Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 Looks good, Ed. To clarify, you smoke with the hickory chips prior to adding the charcoal, or did I misread what you were typing? I've gotten pretty good at grilling; I need to work on barbecuing and smoking. Charlie Larkin Yep. What I'm doing is seasoning with Smoke prior to Cooking. I put 4 or 5 lit briquets in a stell pan, cover with dry chips and close the Smoker/Grill Lid. 'Bout an hour later the Cooking Briquets are added.
Deathgoblin Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 I'm actually pretty decent in the kitchen. Cheesecakes are one of my specialties. I make a wicked sugar free/low carb cheesecake.
Sixx Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 Derrick, I am going to have to go over to your house for some of that food and beer, and then we can go out and shoot us some Zombies. LOL. Any time Doc!!!!!!!!!!! You can even hit the beach in my back yard...( swimming pool, LOL!!! ) You can use my riot gun if ya want to!!!
Dr. Cranky Posted July 31, 2012 Author Posted July 31, 2012 Grilling, chilling, and Zombie killing . . . the best formula for this kind of hot summer.
Sixx Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 Hey Doc, yer gonna have a package pretty soon!!!!!!!!!!! It will have 2 dead guys, 2 dead chic's, mini Doc, and your dead driver dude. tubbs Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 here is my best work in the kitchen....... i can burn water!!!! thank God for my wife. now if your talking grilling........
sjordan2 Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 I'm good at a lot of different recipes, but my passion used to be grilling and smoking meats. Since moving into an apartment, however, I had to give it up since the local fire codes prohibit grills on apartment decks and patios. (Thanks to those who left their grills unattended and burned down apartment buildings, thereby killing people. How inconvenient.)
Tony T Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 My wife is the cook, but I am the one that deals with the BBQ...I'm also good at take-out and order-in!!
sjordan2 Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 here is my best work in the kitchen....... i can burn water!!!! thank God for my wife. now if your talking grilling........ For those of you who use Dawn Power Dissolver to strip paint, guess what? Its intended use is to clean pots and pans like this. Works for me.
Harry P. Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 For those of you who use Dawn Power Dissolver to strip paint, guess what? Its intended use is to clean pots and pans like this. Works for me. Do we need to open a "Kitchen Tips" section?
Pete J. Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 I'm actually pretty decent in the kitchen. Cheesecakes are one of my specialties. I make a wicked sugar free/low carb cheesecake. Oh my, that is just sooooo wrong at so many levels. Cheesecake is intended to be an evil, decedent, send your cardiologist screaming from the room, temptation. Deserts can be small, but they should never be good for you. And I thought I was the only one with several cookbooks of nothing but cheesecake.
Dr. Cranky Posted July 31, 2012 Author Posted July 31, 2012 Do we need to open a "Kitchen Tips" section? Oh, my I can see a STYRENE KITCHEN section. If it were a TV show I'd watch it. Cooking and building models! Oh yeah, that's the right kind of programming!
charlie8575 Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 Do we need to open a "Kitchen Tips" section? See my previous comment. Recipes are kitchen tips. Charlie Larkin
