Greg Myers Posted August 28, 2012 Posted August 28, 2012 I'm moving to a new home and came across a bunch of "Pro Modeler" kits in bigger boxes and was wondering what was inside that made these kits special.
MrObsessive Posted August 28, 2012 Posted August 28, 2012 Greg I have a couple of the Pro Modeler kits (I built the Daytona one) and IIRC, there were PE parts inside that weren't included in later reissues. I also remember the instructions being a bit more detailed with callouts for colors and whatnot, and maybe some other goodies I can't remember at the moment. The kits are on the third floor of my house, but I'm too tired from working all day to check it out as I'm downstairs! Someone else will have more to say I'm sure..............
moparmagiclives Posted August 28, 2012 Posted August 28, 2012 I'm moving to a new home and came across a bunch of "Pro Modeler" kits in bigger boxes and was wondering what was inside that made these kits special. You have kits that you haven't opened !!!! Sinner !!!!
jcbigpaw Posted August 28, 2012 Posted August 28, 2012 Greg I've only got experience with one ProModeler kit from Revell which I bought off EBay and I've yet to even build it. I got it because it was a subject I wanted. I can tell you that this kit comes with stock as well as custom parts (not that unusual) but has a very thorough 15 page instruction book which has tips and pics of an actual vehicle for reference as well as the history and specifications of the real car. I think these would be great for the more serious modeler trying to get more accurate builds but if prices are similar id buy them. Here are some pics for you. Hope this helps
440 Dakota Posted August 28, 2012 Posted August 28, 2012 I have the Charger and the Daytona both have expanded instructions and multiple building options ,expanded decal sheets and the Daytona has a little PE and If I remember right some heater hose tube
Greg Myers Posted August 28, 2012 Author Posted August 28, 2012 You have kits that you haven't opened !!!! Sinner !!!! Yeah, my daughter even gave me one for my birthday last week. Helping me move she saw some that weren't open and wondered if I'd notice. I didn't, it was a re release of the AMT Pirania.
mnwildpunk Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 Yeah, my daughter even gave me one for my birthday last week. Helping me move she saw some that weren't open and wondered if I'd notice. I didn't, it was a re release of the AMT Pirania. I don't care what anybody says that is funny right there
Terry Sumner Posted August 30, 2012 Posted August 30, 2012 I have a Pro Modeler 40 Ford kit and I can echo what Joe said about the instruction sheet in his 48. Same thing with the 40...a very detailed instruction sheet showing photos of an actual car. In addition it has a sheet of silk screened decals instead of the normal type decals.... Other than that I don't know...can't see anything special...
High octane Posted August 30, 2012 Posted August 30, 2012 I have both the Pro-Modeler '40 Ford Convertible which has custom parts including a Carson top IIR and a Dodge Daytona which is still sealed. As a matter of fact, I only open about 1/3 of my kits and it makes it easier later on if I want to sell some of them or even donate them to an NNL raffle or whatever.
Danno Posted August 30, 2012 Posted August 30, 2012 After you build one, you can call yourself a Pro{fessional} Modeler!
TooOld Posted August 30, 2012 Posted August 30, 2012 I've got the '70 Torino GT Pro Modeler kit . It's a really nice kit but other than a little bit of PE there is nothing extra in it . The instructions look normal and the box is too big to store with my other models .
Greg Myers Posted August 30, 2012 Author Posted August 30, 2012 Ah, the donugnut boxes, I noticed that too.
Fat Brian Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 God how I hate those boxes, I can't count how many times stacks of models fell over when one decided to crush suddenly.
Greg Myers Posted August 31, 2012 Author Posted August 31, 2012 I 've noticed everyone of them has let go. Luckly no parts falling out (yet).
