Lovefordgalaxie Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 This Mercury built from an AMT kit is in fact a rebuild. It was yellow before, but it had a feline kind accident, and felt from the shelf. To make this nicer, I steped on it, and broke the columns and made a nasty crack on the roof. Decided to rebuild it, instead of buying a new kit and starting from scratch. The chrome shows the age (15+years on the original build) but I think it turned out ok.
MichaelJ Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 That's a good save. And what 1:1 don't have a scratch,ding,dent,crack,flat-------------------------------etc. Michaelj...
Draggon Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 To make this nicer, I steped on it, and broke the columns and made a nasty crack on the roof Pertty funny, and great rebuild.
Lovefordgalaxie Posted September 1, 2012 Author Posted September 1, 2012 Pertty funny, and great rebuild. I was looking for the frame, and missed the body completelly, so, when I realized I was steping on it, it was too late. I was luccky not to destroy the body completely.
TooOld Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 You think it turned out akay ? It turned out great ! Super nice rebuild and a really nice color too .
Dr. Cranky Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 Clean and classy looking, that's all you need to build a sweet model like this one is. Love it.
Lovefordgalaxie Posted September 2, 2012 Author Posted September 2, 2012 Thaks guys!! I'm more into factory stock builds, but once in awhile I do a custom. All with some 60's vibe on them. Not a fan high tech stuff. As odd as it could be, I'm the kind of guy that likes drum brakes better than discs, points and condensers better than electronic ignitions, byas better than radials. Go figure...
W-409 Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 Not a fan high tech stuff. You're not the only one! Very beautiful Mercury Custom. Just my style, it's MILD Custom, but it sure looks like Custom instead of Factory Stock. Very cool, especially the wheel choice and color fit nicely on this body. And actually it looks pretty good unchopped too.
Gluhead Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 Thaks guys!! I'm the same way about the high tech stuff, Túlio. I'd take an antiquated 50's or 60's car with all it's "shortcomings" over any modern car...any. day. So far, my favorites are early 60's. I do admit to appreciating radials, though. They look goofy but do ride nice.
Lovefordgalaxie Posted September 3, 2012 Author Posted September 3, 2012 Thanks!! For some customizers it may sound like herectic, but I think chopping is like butchering. Never liked the way the cars look odd and distorded when chopped (it must be the "factory original" bug inside me) In 1:1 cars I only do changes that can be easily reversed back to stock. Things like a chrome valve cover, an air filter, a hobcap, or a tire, nothing radical. My '74 galaxie driver has some custom parts, but I can reverse her to full factory stock in one afternoon, leaving no scares behind. I always thought that who created and designed the car does know more about it than me, so, his way is the best way.
bigphoto Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 Stepping on them isn't the best way to chop the top Nice save and nice build!
Grumpa Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 Nice. I love the fog lamps and the taillight treatments!
