caapa Posted September 23, 2012 Posted September 23, 2012 (edited) The Pontiac Club de Mer was built for the 1956 GM Motorama. The body was made of aluminium, a Pontiac V8 engine worked with a transaxle transmission and has been driven extensively for different tests. A ΒΌ scale model was paralell built and this exists today while the car was scrapped in 1958. The model was built from a Revell kit. I completed the model with inside wheelhouses made from plastic cafecups. The paint job is light blue metalic, the interior and inside of wheel arches vermilion. Edited May 26, 2013 by caapa
rhs856 Posted September 23, 2012 Posted September 23, 2012 Nice job! I love that blue. It's always hard for me to believe that something this sleek came out of the fifties. P.S. Is it just me, or does this car look a little like a mustachioed shark?
Guest Posted September 23, 2012 Posted September 23, 2012 Very nice. Are opening doors featured in the kit? Where did you get the tires?
Space Cowboy Posted September 23, 2012 Posted September 23, 2012 Great job on an old kit................
cobraman Posted September 23, 2012 Posted September 23, 2012 I never really cared for this kit but you did it proud ! Nice work.
robertw Posted September 23, 2012 Posted September 23, 2012 Sharp!! I built the old Futura kit last winter and enjoyed the challenge so much that I dug this kit out for building this winter. After looking at it and doing some dry fitting I realized what a challenge it will be to turn it into a presentable model so I am doubly impressed by the excellent job that you have done. robw
caapa Posted September 23, 2012 Author Posted September 23, 2012 The openable doors are made by me. The kit was with closed doors and the wheels are from kit .
Dominik Posted September 23, 2012 Posted September 23, 2012 oh! That Pontiac looks realy fine! Well done Ervin, also the opening doors! Looks like it was in the kit. Now, you give me a kick to build my Club de Mer - looks fabulous. Thank you for sharing!
Harry P. Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 Nicely done! The opening doors are impressive.
Ace-Garageguy Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 Beautiful job, and great fitting doors closed, too.
