martinfan5 Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 Here is the Tamiya version of the FT-86, and this is what I am calling the Grand Tursimo 5 version, I was trying to make it like I have one in the game, the body mods were done using bondo, paint is Model Master Chrysler Yellow Lacquer. I replace the front grill piece with mesh screen, overall I am not all that happy it, I could not get the trim lines painted straight, not matter what I did. I am not sure it you can tell, but the hood has carbon fiber on it. The wheels are Fujimi wheels This is what I was trying to do
fredo84 Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 Nice Replica you got there Man !! Good Job !
Bennyg Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 I like it. I'm nearly up to painting trim lines on my BRZ. If you had trouble I'm sure I will struggle. Thanks for the inspiration. Ben
Modelbuilder Mark Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 Looking pretty good. That is one of the next kits I will be picking up, but I am really looking forward to the Aoshima version. with the left hand drive. In the 1:1 world, the FR-S s VERY likely to be my next daily driver.
martinfan5 Posted October 1, 2012 Author Posted October 1, 2012 Mark, I have the Aoshmia versions on their way to me
Modelbuilder Mark Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 My local hobby shop is suposed to order it for me, so I am expecting it anytime. My only disappointment with the Tamiya veriosn, is the RHD only.

krazyglu Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 By trim I assume you mean around the windows? Sure looks good to me, but its hard to see things in photos. You say painted, but try a felt tip marker...chisel tip black sharpie markers work wonders for window molding and trim work. Your model looks cool, I think you did a nice job.
Bennyg Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 The aoshima one looks the part for you scion people. You could probably combine parts from both kits to creat an accurate scion. I get my real BRZ in August 2013 (12 month waiting list, I was not ordering one till I test drove one), and obviously I want to model it. If aoshima brings out a version of its kit with full engine detail I will get one but I may combine aspects of the tamiya version with the aoshima version. All a matter of timing. Ben I agree, but it makes up for it with top half engine detail Looking pretty good. That is one of the next kits I will be picking up, but I am really looking forward to the Aoshima version. with the left hand drive. In the 1:1 world, the FR-S s VERY likely to be my next daily driver.
