Steven2 Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 I never liked the looks of this kit (originally released as the Barnabas Collins van) but I bought one for the neat parts that come with it. One night I started looking at it and thinking "if I sawed it up here and there..." but by then I had already used the chassis for another build. I managed to pick up another one (missing parts) at a show to get the chassis and out came the razor saw. You can see I miscalculated a bit on the chassis but it is what it is. The engine and wheels were left over from the '41 Chevy pickup.
jcbigpaw Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 I'm really diggin this. It's got a low sinister look. I love it. Good job
Dyno Davo Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 Now that looks a whole lot better, great build
DumpyDan Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 Wow, that really turned out cool. Now that would look good on the kit box as an option.
ChrisR Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 Looks much better than the original kit. Great build!
Chuck Most Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 Ah... 'Barney' as in 'Barnabas'. I was thinking of the big purple dinosaur... Love how that turned out- the changes you made took the original VV from campy to sinister. Bonus points for running a straight six.
blubaja Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 Looks much better than the original kit. Great build! Glad I read through the posts before I posted. lol, My exact thoughts!!!

Dr. Cranky Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 Lots of wonderful details. Great model, I love it. You did a great job. Congrats.
Steven2 Posted October 9, 2012 Author Posted October 9, 2012 Thank you Doc, your excellent book was the inspiration for this build. I'm slowly making my way high gloss to deep rust.
Dr. Cranky Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 LOL, and then back again. That's where some serious fun is. Rust AND shine.
vintagedragfan Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 I agree, totally cool ride now, nice work!
