jjsipes Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 (edited) Started another one this week, like I need anymore in the works. Its a Moeibus Flock Hudson that will be used for the 53 Herb Thomas Hornet. I will use the 53 interior and trim pieces from the stock 53 kit, then I can make a stock 52 when I get the time. Anyway, I cut out the skirts and puttied the forward most skirt line since it appeared to be molded incorrectly. Primed with Tamiya White Primer. Then I broke out my airbrush for the first time in year and sprayed the body. I mixed Testors Navy Blue Gray and some Testors Sea Blue and then sprayed tesotrs Lacquer Clear over it and this is what I got. It is alittle more gray in person than the pictures show. Its needs to be wet sanded and polished before I can apply bare-metal foil and the decals. Edited October 10, 2012 by jjsipes
Dominik Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 Nice start - like the hudson. Paint looks good!
bbowser Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 Looking forward to more, great paint so far...
Mark R Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 That's gonna look sweet once the foil is on there...keep it going I like it !
slantasaurus Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 Where are you getting decals from ? I would rather build a Herb Thomas car than the Marshall Teauge version that I have.
jjsipes Posted October 11, 2012 Author Posted October 11, 2012 I got mine from Southern Motorsports Hobbies but they are regularly on ebay as well. http://stores.intuitwebsites.com/hstrial-RSetzer/-strse-4576/%2392-Hudson-Hornet-Herb/Detail.bok
slantasaurus Posted October 13, 2012 Posted October 13, 2012 I got mine from Southern Motorsports Hobbies but they are regularly on ebay as well. http://stores.intuit...Herb/Detail.bok Thanks for the info. Can't wait to see the rest of your build.
jjsipes Posted October 20, 2012 Author Posted October 20, 2012 I wetsanded and recleared the body. I have started the decaling process. This is your best friend when decaling a Hudson
JustBill Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 Looking good brother. That's a great product for decaling any car for that matter! Look forward to the progress.
retroguy Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 2 cents worth...really good job...did you mix the paints or one over the other...
jjsipes Posted October 21, 2012 Author Posted October 21, 2012 2 cents worth...really good job...did you mix the paints or one over the other... I mixed together then airbrushed it. Not sure the ratio I just dumped the sea blue into the navy blue gray to my eye til it looked close to me.

jjsipes Posted January 20, 2024 Author Posted January 20, 2024 I guess after 11 years, it's time to try and finish this one. Making some good progress. Interior and engine work. 1
MarkJ Posted January 23, 2024 Posted January 23, 2024 Looks like you got the color just right, Jason. I believe I have this kit in my stash and will stay tuned for tips and pitfalls to look out for. The decaling looks perfect as well.
jjsipes Posted January 23, 2024 Author Posted January 23, 2024 Since everybody is familiar with what went on with Photobucket, I thought I'd see what pictures I had prior of this build and reupload some of them.
MarkJ Posted January 23, 2024 Posted January 23, 2024 Thank you, Jason. Thats a lot better than putting up with Photobucket's dirty dealings. You should switch your service to postimage.org. It works quite well, and you just have to put up with advertisements. You don't really need a service to post your pictures here. They can come right out of your own computers picture files. No picture sharing service needed.

Postimg.cc on other forums and just loafing from my device be it phone or computer. Thanks for the comments
Johnny Canuck Posted January 24, 2024 Posted January 24, 2024 That body colour is really nice. The car was listed as being painted in Hudson's Southern Blue - which MCW has faithfully reproduced. But you've done well with your custom mix.
Rattlecan Dan Posted January 26, 2024 Posted January 26, 2024 Looking very sweet. Really nice job so far.
jjsipes Posted January 27, 2024 Author Posted January 27, 2024 Thanks everyone for the comments. Just completed it and have it in the showroom
