brett Posted October 15, 2012 Posted October 15, 2012 kinda box stock for the most part well at least no detailing, sad I know. First up I have the Schmacher woder wagon, started off with the JJ vega reissue, this one had a lot more flash than the last one , but I sure am glad to see these available again. So I had to add/make the louvers for the rear window so made a masking tape template from another kit, a hood bulge which I made from a plastic teaspoon ( a little big) but not too bad I think, and removed the front bumpers. Also using 1320 Waynes tutorial I've lowered the ride height a bit. next up with not much to see yet is the RRRRRRevellution Demon, spent a bit of time yesterday afternoon trying to mix up a paint close to the decal blue
GoatGuy Posted October 15, 2012 Posted October 15, 2012 Looking good Brett. Real good. I will follow these.
brett Posted October 16, 2012 Author Posted October 16, 2012 thanks guys, gave it a quick wetsand to get rid of the slight orange peel and a re coat. Here it is four hrs later without being touched. No clear yet chassis is done just have to install inner body braces, just gonna give the paint a bit of time to harden
brett Posted October 16, 2012 Author Posted October 16, 2012 the demon a little bleed thru on this side and a major white repair on the other as the paint peeled off from the primer but at least in an easy enough spot to fix. Will work more on this one while the paint hardens on the vega
brett Posted October 20, 2012 Author Posted October 20, 2012 Thanks all got a bit done on both yesterday got the decaling started, what fun NOT. They are designed for the comp resins body not a hodgy Revell one but it looks ok so far I think
vintagedragfan Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 very cool Brett, allways loved the old wonder wagons!
W-409 Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 Looks Good! You do always great work and I like following your builds. Especially I like the Vega so far. Decals fit very nicely and paint job turned out nice over all. Can't wait to see more.
GoatGuy Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 They look really good Brett. I love funny cars.
Dragracer Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 I know I'm late sayin' this, wish I coulda been online sooner to mention this before you decaled the Vega Brett, but when I was looking at the pics, something just didn't look right, I went home & checked out a issue of Popular Hot Rodding from Dec. 1973, it had coverage of the U.S. Nationals when the car debuted, the hood scoop (including the normal Vega hood bulge),the roof (including the A pillars & a little part of the front cowl right in front of the windshield) & a stripe on the trunk area should have painted white. Sorry to mention it so late, but just recently got set-up on a computer again (at the local library, where I've been putting in applications). Anyway, the Vega still looks great Brett, the yellow turned out real nice, the Demon is looking good also!
brett Posted November 16, 2012 Author Posted November 16, 2012 Yeah I know Richard Dont know how I over looked that so They've been striped off and its painted white and will be ordering some more decals in the next few days,
Dragracer Posted November 16, 2012 Posted November 16, 2012 Wish I coulda got hold of you sooner guy on the vega, got a resin body of the Wonderwagon Vega (don't remember who made it), waiting to get built, it came with the blue side stripes & I have to use the Slixx decals from the Wonderwagon Panel Vans/Cuda, The Revellution Demon is comin' out lookin' great!
dimebolt Posted November 16, 2012 Posted November 16, 2012 Both are looking good Bret. Really cool. I just got the Demon yesterday, and am gonna do it in the Pure Hell scheme. Corey
brett Posted January 15, 2013 Author Posted January 15, 2013 been a while but I have been building, just very limited net access. Corey,I have a spare demon and the Pure hell decals as well, need to find a close purple though.
AZ Boy Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 Nice funnycars, Brett. Glad to see that you went back and corrected the paint on the Wonder Wagon. Good job!
1320wayne Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 Nice job on all of those. And yes, the Wonder Wagon looks much better.
F/C NUT Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 Great job on all three builds. Its nice to have fun just doing a box stock every once in a while.
brett Posted January 16, 2013 Author Posted January 16, 2013 Steve, I've detailed (mainly just the motors ) on a few of my funny car builds, ( I think I do a reasonable job as all my detail is homemade ie no aftermarket stuff ) but when 99.99 percent of the time they sit in my lounge with the body down............ it doesnt always seem worth the effort, though sometimes I will ..............just for fun
DrKerry Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 Nice builds Brett!!!! Love the Schumacher car!!!!
