moparmagiclives Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 Monster truck, pulling trucks don't use planetary hubs. The extra wheel speed of higher gearing is good for the way they run now. I was referring to pull sled racing. I just don't see it happening with the needs of those trucks, without a bunch if gear reduction and stupid high rpm, more so then turbin engines. I guess the sled they pull could be their own battery pack, wouldn't that be crazy. Like 30k volts running 3 giant motors. With zoomies bolted to the sides, ...for cooling of coarse.
Joe Handley Posted October 18, 2012 Author Posted October 18, 2012 Modern racing monster trucks don't sled pull any more, haven't really since they started becoming monster trophy trucks instead of monster pick ups.

Yeah, I don't see it for a pulling truck.
moparmagiclives Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 Sure it is a gimmick but they can use it for R&D and for a sales pitch. Not for the Monster truck but it has other uses . I think it is just a test Mule for the battery company. Will they show up at a Tractor Pull next ! Oh the Horror !!!!! LOL I'm not talking about the them, i was referring to this.
1930fordpickup Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 First the tractor pull part is pure Sarcasm. Second what they are up to is not about a green monster truck. Third when this thing goes viral with a video it will bring people calling to them for their product. Free advertising .
Joe Handley Posted October 26, 2012 Author Posted October 26, 2012 Guess somebody put a small, grainy video of it on Facebook............guess that's appropriate for a truck called Bigfoot http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=3820640920443
Joe Handley Posted November 9, 2012 Author Posted November 9, 2012 Here's a couple new videos of it in action!
Sixx Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 That's weird not hearing a "monster" motor. It's still pretty trippy though. I still want the gas guzzling, fire breathing, ear killin, mega motors!!!
raildogg Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 As a casual fan of this type of Motor Racing this has one outstanding human benefit not mentioned. Ever notice how many kids wear ear protection, if this cliks it will be a kid safe form of Motor Racing. Ever been to a NASCAR Sprint Race, LOUD OR WHAT !!!!
DRWho95 Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 Diesel powered monster trucks are the coolest!
Prostreet Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 Weird. sounds like a giant RC truck lol. pretty neat though.
Fat Brian Posted November 10, 2012 Posted November 10, 2012 I hope they have it turned down since they are using it in such a small area because other wise the performance isn't all that impressive.
