fredo84 Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 Any One has some info on some kits for an AMC AMX like 1969 '??
mikemodeler Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 There are some resin kits out there too, I will have to do some digging to get the names listed.
Casey Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 There a good list and images of the '69 AMC AMX kits here: http://www.javelinamx.com/javhome/toys/models/index.htm
Casey Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 The 1/43 kit is nice, despite its small size and low parts count. The JoHan AMX is like most other JoHan kits- very nice body, with a promo-like tub interior (with seats molded in), solid metal axles, and molded in suspension and exhaust detail.
W-409 Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 Jo-Han kit is Okay. As Casey said, there's tons of work if you'd like to have good chassis and interior details.... I'm working on one, and I've put maybe more work to it than other builds, still it's not even in the halfway through! The body is very nice, though.
Yahshu Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 I,ve got a Jo Han kit & part of the chassis & floor never got molded so I'm rebuilding it with super glue & baking soda. Don Loomis has some good stuff http://my.inbox.com/photos/escort500xl/index.aspx
my80malibu Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 I have one on the workbench right now. Go there and you could look it up
MrObsessive Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 If you want a close match to the AMX chassis, you can always use the AMT '67 Mustang. The floor boards are very similar, and of course you would need to shorten it up to suit the AMX's wheelbase. Inner fenders are similar too.......just some tweaking to get the right look.
Ace-Garageguy Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 I've seen an AMC Matador kit somewhere. I'd assume AMC, like Mopar, didn't use entirely different tooling for all their platforms in those days, and that a shortened Matador chassis would be pretty close. The QUESTION is, does the Matador kit have any better chassis than the Javelin / AMX ?
Ace-Garageguy Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 ....Just answered my own question. The AMT '75 Matador does NOT appear to have molded-in suspension, so the chassis should be VERY VERY close to '69, as there was no major structural tooling change in 1:1 in those years.....just shorten it for an AMX.

You should have said that earlier . How about '73 AMC Javelin chassis, could that be taken from AMT's Mustang? I have one of them too, and that chassis needs a lot more work than AMX chassis, since there are also molded in exhaust pipes (what the Drag On Lady AMX doesn't have.)
