LAone Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 I thought I saw this here. Like I said on the other forum, looks great and looking forward to it with some paint.
lanesteele240 Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 (edited) in the primer stage it it looks like many imports do. some go primed for years before getting painted Edited January 8, 2013 by lanesteele240
ll Brandon ll Posted January 8, 2013 Author Posted January 8, 2013 Hopefully this one registers just a tad higher than the average rice burner, LOL. The spoon, (if you were serious) is just to show you plans for the final color.
Gray Smith Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 Brandon, looks great dude! I'm a long time fan of imports myself, and being a previous owner of a fixed up 240sx hatch (long list of mods, owned from 2000-2006) I always enjoy a well done build of one. Keep up the great work my friend. Where about in NC do you live? Gray
ll Brandon ll Posted January 9, 2013 Author Posted January 9, 2013 Gray, I live in Burlington. Im about 3 hours from Charlotte. Thanks for the reply I currently own an 89 240SX coupe that I plan to build, but the current economy has kept that from happening, lol. So I build it the only way I can... in plastic.
ll Brandon ll Posted January 9, 2013 Author Posted January 9, 2013 Heres an update. Got the color shot on. No clear yet, waiting on it to cure before I go any further. In the front shot you can also see the GTR grill I made. The paint has a few small imperfections, but nothing major so Im happy with it. After the clear and wet sand, they prolly wont even be noticeable. Thanks for looking!
HondaSan72 Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 Your killing it Brandon!!! You know I'm on board for this build. So sick. I'll be using it as a blueprint for one of my builds! KUTGW bro!!!
ll Brandon ll Posted January 11, 2013 Author Posted January 11, 2013 Your killing it Brandon!!! You know I'm on board for this build. So sick. I'll be using it as a blueprint for one of my builds! KUTGW bro!!! Thank you sir! Im honored! I should have an update sometime this weekend. Ive gotten a little bit done, but I wanted to compile a tad more before I update it again. Its getting close to the finish line. Ive got to do the decals, clear and polish it, finish up the engine and bay, and the interior.... actually that is alot, LOL. Thanks for looking.
ll Brandon ll Posted January 15, 2013 Author Posted January 15, 2013 (edited) Thanks for the comments, guys! A small in progress update. Did some work on the motor, finished up the scratchbuilding on the turbo side of the exhaust, scratchbuilt a new intake manifold, throttle body, and radiator. Also shot on the final coats of color a few days ago, so this is the final color before its cleared. Just gotta finish up the mods before I shoot the clear on. Anyway, thanks for checking her out! Shelby 427 1965 Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 Really digging this build, the work on it is brilliant.
ll Brandon ll Posted January 23, 2013 Author Posted January 23, 2013 Thanks, fellas. Heres a small update. Getting the engine finalized and all the detail work finished up. Thanks for checking her out and as always, comments a criticism is welcome!
lanesteele240 Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 that paint looks awesome. love that color. that thing kinda looks like an r32. great build. cant wait for more. motor looks great too.
ll Brandon ll Posted January 28, 2013 Author Posted January 28, 2013 Yea, its funny how much the S13 coupe and the R32 favor in looks. Even the real thing, the proportions are only slightly smaller from the R32 to the S13. The roof line, and silhouette is almost identical. I know some tuners who have turned an S13 into a poor man's R32. It looks very convincing. Anyway, small update. Trying to get the interior finished up. The only thing missing here is the cage, waiting on the primer to dry so I can sand and paint. Anyone have any suggestions for color? I dont want to do body color since I think it will blur the line of the a pillars and roof and I dont want to do black because I want the cage to stand out. Maybe like a sliver or polished aluminum? Dash is detailed with a popular mod for 240s, replacing the center heat vents with a twin gauge pod. R32 cluster (my S13 cluster decal disintegrated in the water) and a Nardi wheel. Passengers seat is the stock seat since I wanted to maintain a budget racer sort of look. Rear deck lid is flocking, first time using it and the type I got was way too fine imo. And got the decal into the FPR for the engine. Small, but it makes a difference. And last I built the under structure of the hood. Anyway, on to the pics. Thanks for looking.
ll Brandon ll Posted January 29, 2013 Author Posted January 29, 2013 Thanks to a midwinter 60 degree day, I decided to shoot my clear. After first coat: And completed interior: Thats all for now. Thanks for checking her out!
ll Brandon ll Posted February 3, 2013 Author Posted February 3, 2013 Alright, this should be my last update before I post this as a finished build. Finished up my chassis detail, ran my fuel lines, finished detailing the motor. Adding the radiator and intercooler and ran the piping. Adding a throttle cable and wiring for the O2 sensor. All Ive got left to do is get the engine permanently placed into the bay and make an exhaust for it.
lanesteele240 Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 (edited) i can just about here that turbo spool and the pop off's pop. keep it up. the interior looks great and all the rest makes me want to start another model Edited February 3, 2013 by lanesteele240
