Ace-Garageguy Posted December 16, 2012 Posted December 16, 2012 Not much more than a mockup so far, but the idea is something that could have been put together on the west coast around 1957 to be raced. Obsolete Talbot GP chassis, FI Corvette Chevy V8 and a brandy new Borg-Warner 4-speed gearbox. There were some really interesting (to me) hybrid sports cars / hot rods during the period, and some were Ferrari beaters, built from junk ( think Old Yeller.....) So this is what we have so far..........a lot prettier than Yeller, but made from bits just the same........
cobraman Posted December 16, 2012 Posted December 16, 2012 Cool project. Those wheels look great, where are they from ?
Webb Posted December 16, 2012 Posted December 16, 2012 What a great idea Bill! Should make that Talbot quite a bit quicker. Is that a Merit kit? Are those MG Model wheels and tires? Have you ordered your Rochester F.I. yet? Chris
Ace-Garageguy Posted December 16, 2012 Author Posted December 16, 2012 Far as the kit goes, it's a Merit / Smer (same kit tooling, different countries). The wheels / tires are a Japanese upgrade for a vintage Ferrari kit I picked up at a swap-meet, and forgot the manufacturer. Alloy rims and PE centers.
vintagercr Posted December 16, 2012 Posted December 16, 2012 Very cool! Bill where did you get the wheels?
Scale-Master Posted December 17, 2012 Posted December 17, 2012 That's too pretty to be in the same class or realm as Old Yeller. But I really like the idea.
blunc Posted December 18, 2012 Posted December 18, 2012 I think similar PE wire wheels can be found at slot car parts vendors, I got some 1/32 scale wires for future builds.
