W-409 Posted February 6, 2013 Author Posted February 6, 2013 Thanks guys for the nice words! They are really appreciated. Chris: Yes, the white high spots are Pipings. Just didn't know how I could say it in English. And the idea for the Red interior came from Matti's '62 Impala, it looked so good that I had to try my hand at it too. Today I'm planning of doing some BMF work with the Door Panels, and probably getting the seat installed with the seatbelts too.
vintagedragfan Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 take your time Niko, this turning out really nice!!!!
rmvw guy Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 Checking back on your progress, nice work, keep it going! I love that 409.
W-409 Posted February 8, 2013 Author Posted February 8, 2013 Thanks so much Bill and Ron! It means a lot. I got the Door Panels finished tonight. They are painted red of course, some BMF, detail painting and those little Decals from the kit made them look like they are now. Next I will move on to the Dashboard and Steering Wheel & Column and then I should have the interior completed soon. We have Custom Culture Show here in Finland 16th & 17th of February, I can't get this one finished there, but luckily I do have quite a few Pre'65 Drag Cars on my shelf. Thanx For Looking!
W-409 Posted February 19, 2013 Author Posted February 19, 2013 I managed to get the decals applied. They are all from the kit and they fit really nicely to place. I hope to get the body clear coated soon, maybe later this week.
ChevyCoupe41 Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 Looks beautiful! Maybe I have to buy this kit once again because that kind of stocker should be very cool to made. I'm addicted about these '62 Chevys.
W-409 Posted February 21, 2013 Author Posted February 21, 2013 (edited) Thanks, Carl, Bill and Matti! And I'd really like to see one of these from Matti's bench, too. It is truly amazing kit and your previous '62 Impala turned out really nice too. And what you say about the '62 Chevys, is true. You have pretty much of them already . I just got home from Sweden. I had to visit in Harambee Hobby, and walked out with Revell '63 Impala SS on my hands. Well it's clear that I will make one Z11 Impala with 427 W-Block. All I need is Sox & Martin Impala decal sheet from Slixx Decals and one of AMT '62 Impala Super Stockers. This build is waiting for clearcoat, let's see if I can make it today. Mooneyzs Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Niko.... the paint and decals look great. Toubhave done an outstanding job on this one so far. When you get this one completed you will have to takes pics of this '62 and your dads '57 together. Looking forwarx to seeing it done.
bogger44 Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Great foil and interior work Niko. Those kit decals look really sharp, you've got me thinking about picking up one of these kits.
W-409 Posted February 21, 2013 Author Posted February 21, 2013 Thanx Tony ! Those decals, as well as the whole kit are really nice quality. This kit is absolutely worth buying and building because of the subject and the quality.
1972coronet Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 Beautiful work , Niko ! Very , very clean craftsmanship ; gorgeous looking build ! Keep the great work coming !
W-409 Posted March 9, 2013 Author Posted March 9, 2013 Thanks John! Here is a minor update. I sprayed paint and clear to the Dashboard. I hope I can add some details tomorrow to it. Also the interior should be assembled soon....
W-409 Posted May 19, 2013 Author Posted May 19, 2013 Well I finally got the Dashboard detailed. The decals are from the kit, and then I did some detail painting and black washing to make it look more realistic. It still needs of course a Steering Wheel and Steering Column, but also a Tachometer. I will get back to the body soon.
brett Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 You're going to be a force to be reckoned with on the contest tables soon Niko, great strides have been made in your ability's. Great work bro.
progplastic Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 Man your bringing back alot of memories..can't wait to see this done. Great clean looking build..love that engine and the killer carb work. Nice Job.
Mooneyzs Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 Niko..... that dash is beautiful my friend. I love every bit of detail you have put into it. it is clean and looks great!!
W-409 Posted May 25, 2013 Author Posted May 25, 2013 Thanks Kerry, Brett, Jim and Chris! All of the nice words are appreciated. I got the interior pretty much done. I started by painting the Steering Wheel and steering column white. Then I Detail-painted the Steering wheel with silver and black and painted the Turn signal switch on the Steering Column too. Also I completed the Seat Belts. That joint in the middle is made from sheet styrene. Shifter is glued on, but I had a little problems with the decal on it. I still need to do some adjustments to get it fit. Then I just installed everything together and this is how it looks. Still I need to add Tachometer, but otherwise the interior is pretty much done. And one more:
Bernard Kron Posted May 26, 2013 Posted May 26, 2013 Niko... the control you have over the surfaces are stunning. The results are especially imprressive on the dashboard and the engine. I'm jealous!
Jantrix Posted May 26, 2013 Posted May 26, 2013 This really is incredibly impressive. Very clean work.
W-409 Posted May 26, 2013 Author Posted May 26, 2013 Thanks Leo, Bernard and Rob! I really appreciate the kind words. Revell has made excellent job on this kit. I have found no bigger fit issues so far, and parts are very nicely detailed. That makes builder's job much easier, and I'm having a lot of fun with this kit. Maybe that means that I need to get another one at some point. Or then I'll just buy the AMT '62 Bel Air Super Stocker as a donor kit for building Ronnie Sox's '63 Impala Z11 Super Stock.
Badluck 13 Posted May 26, 2013 Posted May 26, 2013 Holy Wow Cow Niko!!!!,all looks great!!!,the interior work is stunning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
