340-6 Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 Well, I finally finished this one. It's an old Bandai kit in 1/16 scale. It's not that bad kit, but there are some problems with it: -Clear parts are just horrible. Especially the windshield was bad. It was too small and ill-fitting. -I don't know where bandai got the clever idea of making most of the suspension parts from metal. They were all cracked, ill-fitting, and looked horrible. -Doors don't fit very well. -Door and hood hinges look terrible. But with patience, it can be built to a nice Jag. The biggest problem with mine was the paint job. I must have repainted the body at least four times. Anyway, here she is: Overall, I'm quite happy with the result. Built Box-stock, I only added Finnish plates. Comments and Criticism welcome!
Danno Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 That turned out very nicely, Pauli, especially for a kit with that many challenges!
Plasticfanatic Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 That Jaguar looks great inside and out, you did a superb job and finish to a model kit with a lot of problems in it build design. Again, great job!!
hacked Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 very smart, having just got this kit i can see the work put in. well done
Harry P. Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 Whatever problems you had with this kit, you obviously overcame them. Beautiful model!
Dyno Davo Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 That is superb, if you photographed it on a road it would pass for the real deal. your investment in the paint has paid off it looks amazing.
sjordan2 Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 (edited) Do you still have the instructions? I'd like to do a trade. (PM also sent) Edited August 10, 2015 by sjordan2
peekay Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 Missed this one in 2013 but glad Skip put it back up.Pauli (if you're still listening) your perseverance certainly paid off and this is a really beautiful model!
Mike Kucaba Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 I too missed this one ( I won't get into a rant about HOW this forum is structured) but glad someone brought it back up. I have two of these in the stash and if I can build one half as good I'll be ohtay with that. Great work.
340-6 Posted August 12, 2015 Author Posted August 12, 2015 Thanks for noticing this old build, I haven't visited this site for some time, but It's always nice to get feedback!
sjordan2 Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 Many thanks to Mike Kucaba for sending me instructions to this kit.
JohnnyK Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 Large scale models are difficult to do, However, that is a really nice build. It looks like the real deal.
GeeBee Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 Superb build, never seen one of these built up .....
sjordan2 Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 (edited) Just a note for those who may be interested in this kit. For reference, you'll want to rely on the 1976 US version of the car. This explains the LHD and lack of plexi headlight covers, in addition to not having minor details only seen on later models (such as chrome tops on front and rear bumpers). In spite of accuracy, I got a set of aftermarket BBS RS wheels as seen on later models, just because I like them better. They're 1:18 15 inch wheels but look pretty close to OK, though I'd like to find a set that's a bit larger. Edited August 25, 2015 by sjordan2
