SFRC Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 For the proud owner of this beautiful Austin Healey 3000 I am going finish this 1:18 replica of his car. He already started on the project by disassambling one model. He also removed all the paint. The base model the owner started on didn't have the louvers on the side so I got another model withe the louvres. Before cutting up the models I first fitted the doors, bonnet and boot. Then I connected both models.
SFRC Posted January 8, 2013 Author Posted January 8, 2013 With the paint on the models looks quite different The Healey has an unpainted metal strip between the body and the wings so I need make that on the model as well Also the engine differs from the actual car. 2 in stead of 3 carbs, different colour. A before and after picture.
SFRC Posted January 8, 2013 Author Posted January 8, 2013 Time to put the shiny bits on Also some small mods on the interior like colour of the steering wheel and a fire extinguisher The chassis was a bit damaged so that is repaired with some glue
AzTom Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 Nice job. I'm guessing at least one of these is a Kyosho, What model had the Left hand drive? Tom
SFRC Posted January 9, 2013 Author Posted January 9, 2013 They are both Kyosho. The first model,, the road car, was LHD.
SFRC Posted January 15, 2013 Author Posted January 15, 2013 The big Healey is as good as ready now. I need to repair a bit of pait. Mesh before the headlights and Canadian number plates. Large Austin Healey logo's on the carpets but you need a keen eye to spot them...
sjordan2 Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 This is another stunning piece of work on your diecasts.
Jzaaijer Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 Awesome job Maarten! How were you able to connect the two cars? Can you weld it together?
