gtx6970 Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 Ok, anyone care to share build tips to do one of these. as in order of assy .fit issues etc etc ? I REALLY want to build one,,,,,and if I can avoid any mistakes or issues before hand might be a good thing
sportandmiah Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 The multi piece bodies are indeed pure evil. Nice done though!
Ron35369 Posted January 13, 2013 Author Posted January 13, 2013 Very nice built and with a nice color ! I`m "happy" to see the body assembly was a challenge not only for me. But what might be expected from a 50 years old kit - after 50 years we shall be bent a bit too. I built my one in the exhibitions color and got an additional portion of problems with opening the doors. Here it is: Nice job opening the doors and hinging the canopy! I agree with Harry, great job of opening the doors & canopy.
Lovefordgalaxie Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 Ok, some will perhaps want to kill me, but I really think Barris ruined the Futura to make the nasty Batmobile. That said, the build looks very good, I know the kit, and making it look this nice is not easy at all.
kruleworld Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 Nice build. looks very factory stock holy BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH Batman look at what someone did to your batmobile!!!. lol Looks great, very clean build. i'm glad the batmobile is now available as a separate kit, we can now see these built as they should be.
Dominik Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 Oh Ron - like your futura. The color is beautiful. I know this terrible kit (i have my hands on mine this time) and you did a absolut awesome job. The result is really beautiful!
FordRodnKustom Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 Nice job on a difficult kit. Always great to see one these done in "stock" configuration.
Edsel-Dan Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 I am curious as to how long before we see one of the polar Lights Batmobile kits built as This??! I have one I started several years ago. Got to find it. I assembled the body around the interior, then cut the chassis section of the bottom plate out.
scalemodelworld Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 It really is a nice build. I've never seen a Futura that ISN'T a Batmobile, so it's a cool change for me. I built the Polar Lights Batmobile a little while back (pics HERE along with my other recent builds), and even though the body was still multi-piece, it fit together perfectly. I'm sure that with some mods, you could do the opposite to the norm: buy a Batmobile and build it as a "normal" car!
caapa Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 Edsel-Dan:Hi Daniel, why did you cut out the chassis section of the bottom plate ?I did the same on the completed body because I nedded access to the inside of body to make opening doors, etc.
crowe-t Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 Ron, This build came out fantastic! I love the color. BTW, what scale is this, 1:25, 1:32... ? Mike.
S. Svendsen Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 Nicely done. You made that kit look great.
Mike Kucaba Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 X2! The Futura is always great! A full detail kit is long overdue.
crazypainter Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 I started one from the last issue-Front end is a pain -I wonder where it is now--LOL maybe I should look for it---
ToyLvr Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 Nice job! I seem to recall seeing an old photo of the original Ford showcar, and it was painted what appeared to be pearl white. That's what I plan to do with mine, if/when I ever get around to finishing the kit I started years ago. I wonder if this kit, or Revell's multi-piece-body '60 Corvette, rank as the top of the list of unfinished builds....
