Mr mopar Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 That Hawaiian is got to be one of the boringest funny car I have ever seen , the rear slicks look a lot better and rims.
gbdolfans Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 I built quite a few of 1/16 cars when I was young.Would love to try my hand at one now. ANYTHING the model companies come out with as far as drag cars are concerned is very needed and welcome.
Daddyfink Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 Looks like a bit of tin work surgery will have to be done to get that body down! And I hope Revell will sell us those tires and wheels in bulk to replace the old crappy ones! REVELL!!! SELL US JUST THE WHEELS AND TIRES!!!!!
Casey Posted February 6, 2014 Author Posted February 6, 2014 Looks like a bit of tin work surgery will have to be done to get that body down! And I hope Revell will sell us those tires and wheels in bulk to replace the old crappy ones! REVELL!!! SELL US JUST THE WHEELS AND TIRES!!!!! Unfortunately every part which touches the body needs to be modified to lower it, then the driver cage part of the chassis touches the roof, and then...you get the idea. These kits are a good starting point, but considering they represent 1972 technology, they could use some changes here and there, even for a '73 car. Not sure exactly the wheels and tires will be, though I expect the fronts to be similar to the ribbed style found in the Revell '50 Olds, Rat Roaster, etc. kits. Not sure they can do that style of wheel with the rear slicks, though, so I guess we'll find out in a few months when the kit arrives. That Hawaiian is got to be one of the boringest funny car I have ever seen , the rear slicks look a lot better and rims. Well, Revell has been releasing kits of both the Hawaiian, Chi-Town Hustler, and Jungle Jim kits since 1973, so I wouldn't expect them to drastically change things up and decide to release a kit of Mike Halloran's or Tom Hoover's White Bear Dodge sponsored cars, even though both are arguably more visually exciting. Slixx released a sheet to do the Willie Borsch Charger when the 1/16 Hawaiian was last reissued, and if you can find one of the 1/16 Pabst Charger decal sheets, you're golden.
Daddyfink Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 I hear ya, Casey. I am just glad they have not totally abandoned us large scale drag fans. But yes, a different car, i.e. car owner, would have been great. I am lucky I have the Pabst and Willie Borsch decals, now, if someone would just make the Don Garlits or Spaulding Dodge car, then we would get some excitement going!
AZ Boy Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 Hey Jesse, Chuck Boerner already makes a 1/16 version of the Garlits / Bud Richter Charger. We're working on him to make a 1/16 version of the Mr. Norm '73 Charger.
Daddyfink Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 Forgot about those! Thanks for the reminder!
skymnky721 Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 (edited) I got this one ,,built it in the early 2000's". I may have to get another ,,this has better front rims,, Edited February 9, 2014 by skymnky721
skymnky721 Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 With some digging around, you could probably find the Pabst Blue Ribbon decals. This would be cool too,,+1
Daddyfink Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 I would say yes, Casey. Looks like the same style of "Art" they used for their last Drag releases, Mongoose and Jungle Jim. Horrible box "art"! Come on Revell, get it together! Oh, yeah, Mustang
Daddyfink Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 I sure hope the rear tires are bigger than the last versions they offered.
Casey Posted April 7, 2014 Author Posted April 7, 2014 I sure hope the rear tires are bigger than the last versions they offered. Hard to say for sure, but it looks like they are, and the shoulders more squared off, too, similar to the Aurora M&H Racemaster slicks.
Jim_Kampmann Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 You're right Casey, here's the instruction sheet. Jim
F/CNUT Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 There is 1/16 Hawaiian funny car kit out now. I just bought one on Ebay
AZ Boy Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 Me too Steve! Chuck B is planning some great decal sheets for this kit, so I'm sure I'll be buying at least a few more.
Magic Photos Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 Chuck Boerner is working on 3 or 4 new decals for this kit.
Mooneyzs Posted April 25, 2014 Posted April 25, 2014 How are the rims and tires in this kit? I am hoping that Hobby lobby will get them. Can anyone post some pics of the kit opened up??
Mr mopar Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 OK guy's where are the Photo's , like I said this car is boring.
AZ Boy Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 Sorry guys. I have a life outside of making model cars which sometimes detracts from the time I get to take and post pictures of every new kit I pick up. Hope these help.
Daddyfink Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 (edited) Thank, AZ! I really want to compare the wheels to the Aurora ones and the tires to the original Revell units. I notice the lack of manufacturer on the tires. We can make them M&H or Firestones! Special thanks to the guy that helped Revell get them done! You know who you are!
