When did you first truely realize your not the young buck you used to be?

About 5 years ago, when I was talking to a pretty 20 something woman, at one of the sites I work. She said that I probably like the same music as her dad because we're about the same age.

Interesting question! I'm 58, and for me it was about 15 years ago. The cute little girl at McDonalds called me "sir" Ooooooo

Now I feel like we are talking about another subject. I was at the Mall once when I was around 30 and just noticed a couple of young girls walking by as I heard them say, " What is that old man looking at?" I think that changed me forever!

In my profession it's not the years but the miles. Logged 4 mil. with out a chargeable offense. Nice thing though is I just picked up one of the new trucks we get this year.

Back a few years ago my daughter, and her boyfriend decided to move from a 3rd floor apt. I told them I would load the track but they had to bring it all down. Well turns out I ran circles around the two of them, hauling it down, and loading. They were both 21 at the time.

Currently got a-fib, and my knees let me know how much I played football back in HS.

I think the topper was when one night we went out to eat, and I got the senior discount before I was old enough to. My daughter just about loaded her pants she was laughing so hard.

It all started when I turned 40. Suddenly I no longer could outrun my kids, then in no time I'm 50 and it takes pain killers to get me out of bed in the morning.By the time I hit 52 one knee has no cartiledge in it and I'm having hip replacement surgery. And to ad insult to injury, the "little girls" at the Mcdonalds give me the senior discount.

Why does our body fall apart when we think we're still young?

When I had a sciatica attack at 30. Hasn't been quite the same since. A couple of good slips that put me square on my knee wasn't fun, either. It still hurts periodically, weather not withstanding, although cold and humidity seem to bother me.

Looks like I am in good company here. I thought it was just me that is falling apart but now I see I am not alone. Started with me about 4 years ago when playing ice hockey I was no longer recovering very quickly from an injury. Every part of me hurt from my feet to the top of my head. My back would get so stiff I could hardly walk for a day or two after playing the game.

Finally I decided that it was time to let that part of my life go before I kill myself. I am now 47 and I have to find something to keep me active. Watching hockey doesn't help me to stay slim. The belly is getting a little bigger everyday.

I was invincible when I was younger! I didn't even wear glasses, never got sick, never had an operation or broke a bone in my life. Then in my early 40s someone handed me a Mercury dime to look at... and I couldn't read the date! Uh oh, glasses!

Then a friend of mine gave me some photos of a model bull session I had at my house. I was looking at one and saw a head from behind and thought, "Who is that bald guy?" Well, I was the only one unaccounted for in the photo!

And now I'm 54. My wife and I went to the movies and I simply said, "Two please!' and the girl gave us two senior tickets. My wife asked me why I didn't protest... I'm at the point in life where I'll take the $2 and don't care what someone thinks!

Definitely my A- Fib slowed me way down. Now I can walk into a MC Donalds's and they call me "Sir" & give me a senior discount & I am only 52! Shaking head that has its ups & downs when you think about it...

Sorry to ask but what is an A-Fib? Dr. wants to put a pacemaker/Defibrillator in me... Is it the same?

At 48 I'm feeling pretty good, I have to thank my 20 year Military service for keeping me fit and healthy, but my 9 year old daughter can navigate around a computer faster than me, knows stuff I don't!
