charlie8575 Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 That looks good, John. For curiosity, what masking tape did you use? Some seem to be a bit more aggressive than others, and as we all know, some paints are far more fragile than others. Charlie Larkin
doggie427 Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 Beautiful paint John. A neat, precise build of a simple antique that shows your considerable skills as a builder.
Modlbldr Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 Beautiful paint. I love the tone of that red over the Silver leaf. I painted an 06 Mustang in Tamiya Mica blue years ago. I have some Silver leaf too. I may have to do a spoon test to see what the Mica blue looks like over the Silver leaf. Looks like I may have found my Candy blue for the accent color of my 41 Chevy lowrider pickup. Later-
John Goschke Posted February 18, 2013 Author Posted February 18, 2013 (edited) Here it is fresh out of the masking tape for the panel outlines... Edited February 19, 2013 by John Goschke
Custom Hearse Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 What are you gonna do with the windshield frame? Chrome foil or ?
Gluhead Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 Can't wait to see this one finished...it's gonna be hot! I had no idea there was such a fine looking Corvette hiding in that SMP kit. It really is a hidden honey.
Brett Barrow Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 What are you using for the white? Looks like you got good coverage over the red. I dig these Watson style paint jobs so much! I'll be trying my first one soon on a 62 T-Bird.
Duntov Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 This is moving along very well indeed..... I like where you are going here.....these old kits are cool and you are really this one justice with your fine work!!!!
charlie8575 Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 Nicely done paint. The colors work very well. Charlie Larkin
Modlbldr Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 Yes, I also want to know what you used for the white to get it to cover the red so well. Later-
Roadracer Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 John.......Your custom paint work is beautiful!! You are absoulty masterful! I love it! WOW!!
Tompidom Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 That is some nice painting your showing us! Would have loved to see it all masked up.
John Goschke Posted February 19, 2013 Author Posted February 19, 2013 Thanks for the comments, guys! With way too many projects started, I'm really trying to see this one through to completion soon in spite of some setbacks. Marshall, the windshield frame and all the molding around the cockpit will be foiled. Brett and Tom, the white is a mix of Tamiya Pearl White and Racing White. Unfortunately I ran out of the Pearl White so there's really not enough in the mix to be apparent.
crazyrichard Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 whow thats some serious painting !!! awsome result
