vc273 Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 (edited) just a few pics of what i have been working on over the past week. Started with a 70 dodge superbee from the amt range and have used the rims and tyres from the testors smoothster kit. Have mocked up the v10 to see how it all fits and thats as far as i have got. Cheers and thanks for looking. Edited July 14, 2016 by vc273
scalenut Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 cool , tho are the wheels just sitting under the body ?
vc273 Posted June 25, 2016 Author Posted June 25, 2016 Hi just a small update on this one. Wanted the scoops for a stock build Im doing as they had the moulding of the chrome trims so it was time to search for another scoop and I think I found it in a cuda scoop. Wanted to make sure that the scoop would sit flush I made the hole slightly smaller then filed the edges at an angle so it would flat with the bonnet without falling through. Have now filled up the gaps with super glue and sanded it smooth. Think it suits the build better than the standard scoops but do have another bonnet if its a failure. Here is a couple of pics of the body mods so far. Gave it a light primer coat to see if everything looked nice and smooth and appears good enough to paint when the next lot of good weather is here.Cheers Steve
vc273 Posted June 27, 2016 Author Posted June 27, 2016 Hi just a quick update on the build. Have sprayed it today in duplicolor acid rush rattle can and will wait for a week or so before I give it a polish. Also found some side scoops but not sure whether I will be using them, will wait until the build progresses. Sorry about the first pic as was taken inside for mock up and had poor lighting. Cheers and thanks for looking, Steve
bobthehobbyguy Posted June 27, 2016 Posted June 27, 2016 Paint looks great. I vote you don't use the side scoops. To me they just don't look right.
Roadrunner Posted June 28, 2016 Posted June 28, 2016 Paint looks great. I vote you don't use the side scoops. To me they just don't look right.I absolutely agree.
superbike-shaun Posted June 28, 2016 Posted June 28, 2016 Dude i would lose those scoops as well, unless u were to widen the rear fenders, paint color I tits!
Poppa mitch Posted June 28, 2016 Posted June 28, 2016 Loose the scoops, look too big, color is great, hurry up and finish s h, keep the p I pictures coming.
vc273 Posted June 28, 2016 Author Posted June 28, 2016 Hi thanks for your comments and I do agree about the scoops as looking at them in the pics they do look out of place. Cheers Steve
vc273 Posted June 28, 2016 Author Posted June 28, 2016 Was able to polish it out tonight as here we are in winter and was able to stick it in front of the gas heater for a couple of hours last night and seemed to cure the paint really nice. Then going thru my decal box I came across a plain black stripe that I added along with one of the dirty donny superbee decals that I got of a mate of mine. Hope to give it a clear coat in the next couple of weeks when I know the decals are nice and dry. Also added a couple of pics of it sitting next to a stock height superbee. Cheers and thanks for looking, Steve
tubbs Posted June 28, 2016 Posted June 28, 2016 looking good Steve. like that stripe. is that one in the Dirty Donn kit? also, had reserves about the shaker, once done and painted, it looks really nice. like the side by side shot... and what's the deal with the 65 in the background?
vc273 Posted June 28, 2016 Author Posted June 28, 2016 Thanks Al not sure where the stripe came from but it was just a plain stripe except a cut out for the turn signals, which I removed on this build thats where the idea of the superbee graphic came into play. The 65 is sitting in a box at the moment waiting for me to get back to it which is now painted black and using the superbee pro street chassis. Cheers Steve
RestoModGuy Posted June 28, 2016 Posted June 28, 2016 real nice! like the design and the stance is spot on! Nice custom work.

Cheers Stevethanks Steve. really nice jog on that stripe. I thought it came out of the kit that way. a viper motor would fit in there real nice, Steve....and you need to get that 65 out again... I know.. sorry for drifting the thread. id that a resin body? sorry.
vc273 Posted June 29, 2016 Author Posted June 29, 2016 (edited) Hi thanks Jim for your comment. Al had to do something different with the stripe, wanted that unique look from all the other superbee's I've seen and didn't know if I was able to pull it off until I got the decals on the body and am happy the way it turned out. With the 65 from memory is the polar lights pre painted kit, that was painted a pale yellow, that I stripped the paint off and also opened the trunk. Am using the pro street superbee chassis under it and hope to be working on it after I get the superbee's finished off as everything is in mock up at the moment. Posted a couple of pics for you. Cheers Steve Edited June 29, 2016 by vc273
vc273 Posted July 8, 2016 Author Posted July 8, 2016 Hi a small update of what I have been working on for the past couple of nights. Removed the rear seat and had to make up a frame to hold some flat sheet styrene so I could place rear buckets in its place. Had to brace the rear parcel shelf as it was flopping about without the seat. Will be extending the centre console to the rear of the buckets with another spare tub that I have. Thinking of doing the interior in bright red to contrast with the gold. Cheers and thanks for looking, Steve
mustang1989 Posted July 8, 2016 Posted July 8, 2016 Nice work. I like the strip and the bee back there.
vc273 Posted July 14, 2016 Author Posted July 14, 2016 Hi thanks everyone for your comments. Have been working on a chassis that I found in the parts box and think it will work with the build to give it that fabricated look. Still have a bit more modificatins to do to it and then will be making up a flat floor pan to suit. Cheers and thanks for looking Steve
