curt raitz Posted August 17, 2015 Author Posted August 17, 2015 Attended the Monterey Historic Reunion at Laguna Seca on Friday with "She Who Must Be Obeyed". I brought the model and a copy of the Model Car Magazine with my article on building the model to give to Tony Adamwoicz. I found the the car in the F5000 compound at Laguna Seca. Tony wasn't there, but talked to Bill from the Riverside International Automobile Museum about my plans to give him the model and magazine. Bill said Tony would be there later in the afternoon and due to his failing health would not be driving the car this weekend. I asked who would be driving the car and he stated nobody would be driving it, because Tony was the only one to have ever driven the car and the museum planned on keeping it that way. He also said this would be the last year it would be at Laguna Seca. He said Tony would love receiving the model and invited my wife and I to join him and the other F5000 competitors for a brief ceremony honoring Tony later that afternoon. I met and presented the model and magazine to Tony that evening. It's moments like this which makes me enjoy being a modeler and with it the ability to add to another persons well being. Here are a few photos of Tony...
Art Laski Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 Great stuff, Curt! I've seen that car (and Tony A-Z) a few times at the Riverside International Automotive Museum, and your replica is fantastic.
Phildaupho Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 (edited) Good on ya Curt. You built a fabulous model and it is fantastic that you gave it to Tony A. I am sure he will treasure it. I have had a few similar experiences and found them to be very rewarding. Congratulations. Edited August 18, 2015 by Phildaupho
Bernard Kron Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 Everything about this is wonderful. Good on ya Curt, indeed!
mrindy77 Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 (edited) I watched Tony A2Z race at Road America a few years ago. He was making that Eagle fly and it sounded great through the woods of Wisconsin's fabled road coarse. If you get a chance look up the article on his Indy qualifications...he really got screwed at Indy by the establishment who really did not care for road racers at the time. Very nice model..I like it. Edited September 22, 2015 by mrindy77
