ratnasty Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 (edited) If anyone remembers the Mickey Thompson and Eastern Raider Pintos from Revell we remember how hoakie the chassis was and how the car built up . I have added a side spill plate to the bottom of the body and shaved away the original one away that wrapped way under the body and made mine tapered from 5mm to 8mm and the Challenger chassis from the model king fits the wheelbase perfect.I also raised the radius on the front wheelwell with my dremel just a bit .Here is my mock up so you can see what I did . I hope you enjoy it and let me know what you think of it so far thanks Chuck Edited March 11, 2013 by ratnasty
stump Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 That's looking pretty wicked Chuck. I'm not familiar with the kit, but the subtle changes you made look good to me. I'm guessing the decals are your own work?
Mooneyzs Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 Chuck... That body looks great!! I love seeing all of these body's that you are doing. Keep up the great work.
VERNON Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 Great job Chuck....I had this kit when I was kid and was able to get one off ebay a while back. I forgot how hoakie these kits were until it arrived. After seeing the changes you made in the body, you've got me thinking about pulling mine out of the closet and working on it. I never thought of trying the MPC chassis under but looks like a good fit. Thanks for resparking my interest in the kit. Happy modeling, Vernon
tbusch Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 Was this chassis (in the Pinto kit) different from the standard Revell chassis that was in the McEwen Duster and the rest of those style kits. If so can someone post a picture of it, I have never seen it Thanks
gtx6970 Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 Besides the chassis how much different is the Johan kit compared to the revell kit. I've got a bunch of the Johan Pintos but none of the Revell kits, and this build looks pretty cool and fits in with my time line interests
ratnasty Posted March 11, 2013 Author Posted March 11, 2013 Thanks guys , the Revell pinto is smaller than the JoHan pinto and this is more correct as far a the front end and spoiler. I only made the roof hood and deck decal the rest were from the kit but I'll be drawing these decals as I'm going to have the body casted . The MPC Challenger chassis is the only one that will fit without heavy modifacations Chuck

ratnasty Posted March 12, 2013 Author Posted March 12, 2013 yes I'll try and find a pic for you . It is terrible Chuck

Are you using the chassis from this kit?
vintagedragfan Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 that is some nice work Chuck, Pintos made awesome funny cars
ratnasty Posted March 12, 2013 Author Posted March 12, 2013 yes Ivader thats were I robbed the chassis from Chuck
dragcarz Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 I have had a couple of these bodied and not known what they needed to look more correct, your fix helps a lot, we're these kit decals or your own?
ratnasty Posted March 13, 2013 Author Posted March 13, 2013 sides were kit and I made the hood roof and deck stripe , I'm starting to redraw them completely thanks Chuck
Chitown Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 That really looks great, sits much better on the new chassis. I had the Revellaser back in the day and that chassis was really weird. Kinda looked like it got caught morphing from Revells first funny chassis in the Heavy Hugger & Boss Mustang, to the much more accurate style as in the Jungle Jim Vega, McEwen Duster, etc.
MoparMark Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 That looks sweet, just the right amount of body tweaking. How does the Comp Resins Pinto stack up to this one?
