captin Posted March 29, 2013 Author Posted March 29, 2013 Thanks Stephen, I've had this model kit laying around for a couple of months and have been putting it off cause i wasn't sure what i wanted to do with it. i finally got and idea of what i wanna go for after looking at the box and the instructions for a month lol . ill keep you updated.
Jantrix Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 Take your time with this one. The separate roof, door, windshield/cowl can be a bit fiddley.
captin Posted March 29, 2013 Author Posted March 29, 2013 Thanks Rob, ya when i was looking at the instructions it looks a bit complicated, but were would be the fun if it wasn't complicated lol.
captin Posted March 30, 2013 Author Posted March 30, 2013 Little update... just got all of the suspension put together. all of it was chrome so i decided to use 5 min. opoxi to glue it all together to i have a nice sturdy suspension. i plan on weathering the chrome a little bit as well.
captin Posted March 31, 2013 Author Posted March 31, 2013 Here is a mock-up of my surf wagon just a little preview of what im going for.
captin Posted April 5, 2013 Author Posted April 5, 2013 Here is a little update on the surf wagon... i scratched built a roof rack for the surf boards still have a little work to do on them yet. Then i found the color the body is going to be i knew i wanted blue but wasn't sure witch color. hope you like.
captin Posted April 5, 2013 Author Posted April 5, 2013 Thanks James, im hoping it turns out good I've been hearing that the doors on this model are tough so hopefully i come out ok when its finished lol
crazyrichard Posted April 6, 2013 Posted April 6, 2013 thats not going to work just pack it up and send it to me here in holland so i can try to save it in other words ... i just love every inch of it perfect awsome stuff
captin Posted April 7, 2013 Author Posted April 7, 2013 Hahaha nice Richard. well from what I've been hearing about this kit the doors are the worst part so who knows i might end up sending it your way when i get to the doors lol :-D
slusher Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 Chris, l have never seen this kit built or herd much about it. Looking forward to your project. It has cool all over it..
captin Posted April 7, 2013 Author Posted April 7, 2013 Just got done painting the body of the 31 ford surf wagon. just thought i give a little preview of it. hope you like...
Modlbldr Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 I like it very much! Are you planning on doing any weathering to the body or will it be shiny? I'm sure it will look great either way. Instead of using the kit hinge pins you may think about doing some in brass rod to stiffen them up. Otherwise the doors may sag. Later-
captin Posted April 7, 2013 Author Posted April 7, 2013 Thanks Tom, well when i began this kit i origanly wanted it weathered with a flat finish but when i got done spraying the body it went on so nicely that now im not sure if i want it shiny or flat finish and weathered.
slusher Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 That is a great looking color Chris, What is it may l ask.? lt did go on smooth. very nice work....
captin Posted April 7, 2013 Author Posted April 7, 2013 Its actually a nail polish of my wifes that i found and it was called blue surf. it was a pretty old bottle but the paint was still good im glad you like it.
slusher Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 Thanks Chris for the info. I really like your build...
captin Posted April 10, 2013 Author Posted April 10, 2013 Little update on the surf wagon. painted the frame flat black and the suspension flat aluminum and painted the firewall flat black. i plan on weathering it by misting some sand color on there and put some real sand on there as well. hope you like...
Custom Hearse Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 That looks really cool! The work you've done is great!!!
