Dragfreak Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 I had this kit laying around so I decided to start it as the cuda project and its problems are burning me out, I'm deciding to build it my way. Its gonna be Testors 1 coat lacquer Inca gold with the kit decals. I stole the Halibrands for another project so its going to have body colored steelies. Comments, criticism, suggestions welcomed
Dragfreak Posted April 12, 2013 Author Posted April 12, 2013 Yeah, the Halibrands are going on a future project
AC Norton Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 hi jason, like the idea of your own build idea....not sure if i would use k.s. pittman decals, being that there are so many great choices out there. that inca gold color is very nice, a local builder sprayed a 40 ford sedan using it, and it is a neat color for an of the era gasser. looking forward to your completed project. best of luck, regards, a.c.
Dragfreak Posted April 14, 2013 Author Posted April 14, 2013 Thanks A.C I didn't see your comment until I got her painted and decals applied it does still havethe K.S decals but it should still turn out cool heres where im at with it right now, this isn't the stance I just painted the interior and its still drying so I stuck some rocks under there so you get the idea
cobraman Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 Looks great. Looking forward to seeing it finished.
TedsModeling Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 I love the mile-high front stance. Very typical of the gasser era. Good start!
Mooneyzs Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 Wow this looks great and I love the color you went with. I am digging the steelies on this car. Nice work.
W-409 Posted April 18, 2013 Posted April 18, 2013 It can't get any better than this. Nice stance and perfect wheel choice, I've always liked Body Color Steelies. Very nice job, can't wait to see more, this is great inspiration for my '40 Ford A/GS which will be 1963 NHRA Legal (In The Gasser & AWB CBP). Keep the Eye Candy Rolling.
NHRA715 Posted April 18, 2013 Posted April 18, 2013 saw this car race Stone Woods & Cook at Lions Drag Strip in the 60's... remember everyone was saying the the SWC car was cheating because it always won, something about having something hidden in the hood that shot some kind of ? into the Hilborn butterflys..those were the days, all heads up racing, no shoe polish.... good luck. John
AC Norton Posted April 18, 2013 Posted April 18, 2013 hi jason, i'll withdraw earlier opinions on the decals.....the car looks as neat as could be...keep up the great work. regards, a.c.
Alan Posted April 18, 2013 Posted April 18, 2013 Hey Jason, looks really good so far. If you are doing a period build, I would remove the Accel decal looks out of place with the other vintage decals ......
dragcarz Posted April 18, 2013 Posted April 18, 2013 Love the color and painted wheels. Great work so far.
Silver Foxx Posted April 19, 2013 Posted April 19, 2013 Looking real nice , I like where you are going with this.
Dragfreak Posted April 22, 2013 Author Posted April 22, 2013 Thanks to everybody for the feedback I appreciate it alot! Alan, I just realized too that the Accel decal is a little later in the years but I cant remove it as its sitting under 3 coats of clear so its just a lesson to do some research on whether some companies were around on the build. I got the motor painted and painting more parts so interior and built motor pics are coming soon. heres some outside shots where the paint really pops! comments, suggestions, criticism welcomed
Dragfreak Posted April 23, 2013 Author Posted April 23, 2013 I recently bought a mitre box and I was eager to use it so I cut up some k&s aluminum tubing and played around with it so would this be accurate for the time period?
Dragfreak Posted April 24, 2013 Author Posted April 24, 2013 I dig this bad boy Willys!!! nice work!!!!! Thanks Derrick!! I was having trouble getting the tubes to bend in to make it look like a collector but I figured it out
Dragfreak Posted December 24, 2013 Author Posted December 24, 2013 (edited) Hot indeed! How is it doing? I got mad that I put a decal from the wrong era on it and cleared it after finally pulling off a near perfect paint job and thinking about having to strip it I got pissed at it and just through it in the box.
