LEOSMAD Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 Was wondering if I could get help with the names of all the MPC pro stocks cars.....The first set had 8 cars in 1972 era, I know & have most of them, but looking for the Screamin Eagle Gto & the Minuteman Mustang, All these boxs had Pro Stock Series wrote on upper left hand corner on Box cover. But the 2nd set I have no idea how many cars were made or what thet were.....I have Vanke Duster & this box has a Black & White checkeres flag on left side of box cover, also Motown Missle Challenger in this set....could any one help me out with other names & cars, Thanks Leo
gtx6970 Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 (edited) http://www.ebay.com/itm/Rare-MPC-Pro-Stock-Series-Collection-All-8-Kits-/171024302068?pt=Model_Kit_US&hash=item27d1d7bff4 Most of the above were dedicated drag cars with little or no stock parts or stock interiors Other cars such as the Vanke Duster were nothing but a stock issue with race car parts added in Off the top of my head - 1972 Duster - Arlen Vanke car. 1972 Barracuda - Sox and Martin car Edited April 16, 2013 by gtx6970
rssschris Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 The Vanke Duster, Motown Missile Challenger, Sox & Martin Cuda, Rod Shop Charger , Don Grotheer`s Cuda were not really part of the pro stock series. They were MPC annual kits. They had decals & a few race parts added. The Pro Stock Seiries That I have are. Grumpy`s Toy Camaro California Flash Duster Minuteman Mustang Screamin Eagle GTO Sox & Martin Duster Motown Missile Cuda Dick Landy Challenger Grumpy`s toy Vega Mopar Missile Duster USA-1 Vega Dyno Dons Pinto Gapp & Roush Pinto Dyno Don Mustang 2 Firefighter Mustang 2 1 box I sen also had the Malco Gasser Mustang listed in this series, but it is not a pro stocker. Did I miss any ? Chris
edboys Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 With such a long list of vehicles it makes me wonder why there hasn't been more re-issues of the subject matter.

magicmustang Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 (edited) Thought I would send a pic, I have all of the "name" MPC Pro stocks in my collection. Have the Minuteman and Screaming Eagle in unnamed rereleases. Right side of pic from bottom 2/3rds. Edited August 19, 2014 by magicmustang
Mister Twister Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 As Chris said..."Very nice collection" that you have!
Force Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 They were mentioned in a " I wish/ want thread awhile back . I would love to see these reissued , all of them ! I can only agree, please Round 2, bring them back.
vintagedragcrazy Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 not sure but didn't they have a candies & hughes f/c too? vince
magicmustang Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 I have it in a 1320 diecast. Had a Dick Jeese GTO F/C too, but it was such an ugly car I traded it.
gtx6970 Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 (edited) not sure but didn't they have a candies & hughes f/c too? vince Yes, The problem with most ( if not all ) of the MPC funnycar kits, they were just stock wheelbase promo bodies on a generik funnycar chassis. At least the Pro stock kits were a tad more accurate Edited August 16, 2014 by gtx6970
magicmustang Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 (edited) I agree, up to the 71's they were just stock bodies on a funny car chassis. But beginning with the Kalitta Mach I, the Mustangs, the Vegas and the Challenger in 1972 they did at least try to replicate a real funny car body. Edited January 4, 2015 by magicmustang
Force Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 (edited) Yes, the later MPC Funny Car kits aren't that bad. Edited August 18, 2014 by Force
