CrazyGirl Posted April 20, 2013 Posted April 20, 2013 why are so many of these company's sooooo soooo slllloooow in shipping stuff , heck even one company I bought some paint , they took my money but I have yet to hear from them , not even an email from them on the order , it's the age of the computer , but yet it takes 3 days to process an order
MAGNUM4342 Posted April 20, 2013 Posted April 20, 2013 Personally, I think it has to do with laziness, and the "I don't really care about you i'll get to it when I get to it" attitude. Customer service is but a fantasy these days. Then again, thirty years ago you had to send an order in snail mail, with an order form ripped from the back of a catalog. Six of one, half a dozen of the other.
CrazyGirl Posted April 20, 2013 Author Posted April 20, 2013 so true Kevin , spoiled I am , I WANT MY MAYPO lol
slusher Posted April 20, 2013 Posted April 20, 2013 Paint is always a slow shipper because it can only go by ground and not priority. l tend to do my buying from the same sellers on ebay so l know l get the best service.
zenrat Posted April 20, 2013 Posted April 20, 2013 If I order paint from zero paints in the UK it usually takes 5 days to get to me in Australia. Just saying... However, when was the last time a clerk in a store said "It'll be a week, we'll call you when it's in" and then actually did just that?
southpier Posted April 20, 2013 Posted April 20, 2013 how would the computer climb the ladder to get the paint off the shelf? and why wasn't the company standing by waiting for me to call?
1930fordpickup Posted April 20, 2013 Posted April 20, 2013 how would the computer climb the ladder to get the paint off the shelf? and why wasn't the company standing by waiting for me to call? Good point . Thanks for the reminder.
TooOld Posted April 20, 2013 Posted April 20, 2013 Anne , you did you order paint from ? I've ordered paint from most of the online hobby shops and always have it in my hand in less than a week . Lately I just shop price and if it is in stock .
CrazyGirl Posted April 20, 2013 Author Posted April 20, 2013 (edited) Mega Hobby , 5 days and still processing an order , Modelcar.com , 5 days still processing the order , Horizon Hobby , placed order and in 3 hours order shipped , so 5 days to process an order is crazy IMO Edited April 20, 2013 by CrazyGirl
Ben Posted April 20, 2013 Posted April 20, 2013 Wait till you start ordering resin stuff! Most casters only work part time so it's very common for your order to take weeks or even months to arrive.
CrazyGirl Posted April 20, 2013 Author Posted April 20, 2013 order a custom shop guitar if you want to test you waiting skills , 19 months I waited for a Gibson
slusher Posted April 20, 2013 Posted April 20, 2013 Mega Hobby , 5 days and still processing an order , Modelcar.com , 5 days still processing the order , Horizon Hobby , placed order and in 3 hours order shipped , so 5 days to process an order is crazy IMO l get paint from side track hobby on ebay and hobbylinc.com in 5 days. l have to agree it should not take that long to process an order..
roadhawg Posted April 20, 2013 Posted April 20, 2013 order a custom shop guitar if you want to test you waiting skills , 19 months I waited for a Gibson Probably kinda hard to get orders out when the Government is coming in busting up all your stuff and all.....
Guest G Holding Posted April 20, 2013 Posted April 20, 2013 I have found...Choose your sources, by speed of service OR pricing. I can get my paints in 3 to 5 days, with "normal" shipping...no next day etc. The CHEAPEST source ships the SLOWEST. The higher priced sites ship quick, and have lots of support. I find HOK online, thru Coast ...Great service ! I get model paints thru Tower...Great service, watch for their shipping specials...free with 25 to 50 dollar orders....most in stock Did Mega...great prices...always the same wait.
Quick GMC Posted April 20, 2013 Posted April 20, 2013 (edited) I own an online store in another industry. We're a small company. We do okay and we're growing, but it costs MONEY to stock everything. A lot of the stuff we sell we keep in stock, others we don't because it doesn't sell often and it ties up capital to have it sitting on the shelf. I wouldn't automatically assume they're lazy. It doesn't make sense for someone to spend money to keep something on the shelf that doesn't sell often. If you order an odd part that you might think is normal, they probably won't have it. They'll order it when you order it, and probably order and extra to keep on the shelf for the next time. I have two businesses, and the one I mentioned I take no money from. My partner and I take all our profit and invest it into inventory. This allows us to grow and expand, but slowly. Retailers have to spend their money wisely, ESPECIALLY when you're in a very small, niche market like model cars It's hard to earn a living off items that are priced sow low. Sure, resin stuff is expensive, but there are a lot of materials involved that cost money, and time to cast the parts. Unless you have a smooth operation and a huge percentage of the marketshare, say like one of the bigger name resin body guys, it's hard to get out there and let people know. THEN, there's that threshold of getting orders out on time and getting flooded with orders. Someone comes on here and says "hey, these guys are awesome". Well that 2-order week just turned into a 10-order week and they have to buy (and wait for) more casting materials, spend more time, customers get tired of waiting etc. there's a point where you can maintain your output, and a point where you have to cross that line and get help. Help costs money, which means less capital invested in inventory. It's a battle, every day, for small business, especially when you have a ton of competition. With THAT being said, We have a number that goes to both our phones, both of our personal cell phones are listed, both our personal emails are listed and our company email is listed, as well as our facebook page and we are constantly on a number of industry forums. We are ALWAYS available. lack of communication and ignored emails is unacceptable. Edited April 20, 2013 by Quick GMC
Chief Joseph Posted April 20, 2013 Posted April 20, 2013 One of my favorite business aphorisms: "You can have it good, fast, or cheap. Pick any two."
Danny Lectro Posted April 20, 2013 Posted April 20, 2013 I usually order from hobbylinc.com. Their FAQ states that they will be slow to ship (5 days), but their prices are the best I have found on the internet (with the possible exception of some imports).
Erik Smith Posted April 20, 2013 Posted April 20, 2013 Mega Hobby , 5 days and still processing an order , Modelcar.com , 5 days still processing the order , Horizon Hobby , placed order and in 3 hours order shipped , so 5 days to process an order is crazy IMO Some of the online shops list items as "in stock" but also state "ships in 3-5 business days", as opposed to "ships in 1-2 days". So either they order it when you do and ship when they receive it, or it comes from another warehouse. I haven't had any long delays from Mega Hobby or other established sellers.
Quick GMC Posted April 20, 2013 Posted April 20, 2013 well I have had on-line and brick N mortar stores and I never posted anything for sale unless it was in stock..posting things for sale with out having it in stock is just bad business. when I was selling on line ( I did pressed steel toys ) and when it got to the point of it was taking a couple days to fill orders.. I would email the customer telling them there would be a delay.. and I would enlist help to get things done.. if it's a stock item there is no excuse to take longer than 3 days to process the order ( well exuding weekend ).. now when you talking about 1 off type things ( witch I did sell ) there was always a clause telling people that there will be X time before shipping. I guess maybe I am too old school to think that customers was first! but yea I have noticed this growing trend of taking longer.. I ordered some electronic parts from a company and they never processed the order till 2 weeks later and then it took 8 days to get to me... needless to say I will never buy from them again! I have seen small and big business process orders fast... and yes computers do make processing orders faster.. ( it took me longer in the days of pen and pencil ( I even lost orders that way )) just my worthless $.02 I agree with you. The higher dollar equipment we sell is listed as special order, as it comes from italy and there are just too many variations to to feasibly stock anything. But we're up front about it. A problem for me is we get cluster orders. It's really weird. for no apparent reason, we'll sell 2 of one thing across two weeks, then 8 in a matter of 2-3 days. I have been slowly increasing my inventory, but it still happens.
The Creative Explorer Posted April 20, 2013 Posted April 20, 2013 Wait till you start ordering resin stuff! Most casters only work part time so it's very common for your order to take weeks or even months to arrive. Depends a bit on the resin-caster I guess, I don't have much experience in ordering with the USA casters and the ones I have are good. I just ordered the 1/16 Daytona conversion from Ron Andrews from RMR and even though his e-mails are quite short, they are to the point and told me up front when my parts will be shipped (they still have to be shipped btw). just clear communication and when it is clearly communicated, I have no problems waiting a bit longer. Be honest; 90% of the time when we order new kits, we want them quickly, but don't actually need them quickly. ;-)
Johnt671 Posted April 20, 2013 Posted April 20, 2013 I got an e-mail today from Mega hobby today that said they were in the prcess of moving from Long Island to N.J. and would be shipping orders soon. I order from them and although they may take a day or two to ship the stuff still gets to me quick. Maybe their computers were down for a day or two?
Darren B Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 Not hoppin hydros, i have made two purchases there and each time i ordered on a friday, and first thing monday i got my package, they are super fast, that is if your into lowriders, they do have a lot of rims and tires for regular vehicles thou.............................
CadillacPat Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 I have ordered Decal Paper from Papilio.com and had it arrive in less than 24 hrs, the next afternoon. I order all my House Of Kolor products from HOK in Mississippi or Coast AirBrush in California and both ship quick. Dixie Art Supply in New Orleans ships quick with great customer service.
