Dr. Cranky Posted April 27, 2013 Author Posted April 27, 2013 That's a good question, Jim, and I think this is more of a flat terrain type of vehicle, the modifications never really thought-through all the way . . . at least that's the story. I got primer on all the parts finally! I really like using all the different color primers, for different effects as you will begin to see as soon as the paint starts going on.
Tom Geiger Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 Okay! I've got my popcorn and beer and I'm ready to learn and be entertained! Let the rust begin!
crazyjim Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 I wouldn't have all the patience to lay out the parts like that. I tend to make piles.
Gramps2u Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 Very interesting Doc! keeping my good eye peeled on this one. BTW the rear fender wells, Love'm! nothing like repurposing items!
Dr. Cranky Posted April 27, 2013 Author Posted April 27, 2013 Thanks, Bob, and Jim, laying out the parts like this is therapy for my OCD.
pharoah Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 What a great idea for a build! I'll be watching this.
Dr. Cranky Posted April 27, 2013 Author Posted April 27, 2013 Thanks, everyone, the painting has begun, and it's going slow. We are in the salting/texture stage which is repetitive but quite a bit of fun. Stay tuned in for more.
crazyjim Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 Aye -yer a salty ol dog, doc. (Supposed to sound like an old time sailor)
Chris White Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 Its like a good book, more, more more....BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH you Virgil, work faster
OldTimer50707 Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 Keep it coming Dr. Cranky. I'm still lovin' it.
Dr. Cranky Posted April 28, 2013 Author Posted April 28, 2013 All right, you CRANKYHEADS, this is what almost two days of painting with the airbrush (except the engine and the bed rack which were rattled canned) looks like: Everything has received the salt/hair spray technique to achieve this look so far. I really like the way the body and the wood on the bed have turned out. So far so good, and so far so much fun.
Dr. Cranky Posted April 28, 2013 Author Posted April 28, 2013 Here are some more pics . . . Airbrush + acrylics = CRANKY LOVE.
crazyrichard Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 nono no nooooo just stop that body ........ its just to cool that cab is just ... whow .. stunning efefcts .. just .....
Dr. Cranky Posted April 28, 2013 Author Posted April 28, 2013 Thanks, Richard. I think it turned out pretty cool too, but the fun is just beginning. We have to apply Doctor Cranky's GUNK LOTION #5, the love potion, and #9 too, and all the others. LOL!
Randy D Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 Hey Virgil, You always impress with your masterful paint and weathering !!!! Randy
James2 Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 Looks amazing Doc, but it's pretty bad when the shiniest part of you vehicle is the engine!
Dr. Cranky Posted April 28, 2013 Author Posted April 28, 2013 James, your comment just put a big smile on my face.
Dr. Cranky Posted April 28, 2013 Author Posted April 28, 2013 LOL, yes. Cruddy gunky junky rusty cruddy. Oh yes.
