Xacto saw blade

I keep seeing a reference to these saw blades for opening doors. I looked for them, to no avail. I may have seen them, but passed over them. What do I look for?

I think you're looking for photo - etched blades that fit in an xacto handle .

These are from Model Car Garage for about 10 bucks .

How long do those PE blades generally last?

A long time. I guess it depends upon how often you use them, but one blade lasted me at least a year of every other day use. The teeth are very fine, though, so for quicker cutting, I still use a stiffback X-acto razor saw.

The Excel one is the one I normally use in a standard #1 handle. It is available at many hobby shops and Hobby Lobby. It is good mainly for straight cuts. I have never used the X Acto blade.
