crazyjim Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 My latest build is this 1997 Plymouth Prowler painted in HOK cherry pearl. I filled the original headlight area and the rear pan. The big surprise will be revealed shortly. And here's the surprise - it's got a HEMI
outlaw035 Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 good look'n prowler...u musta put that hemi in with a shoehorn...
Eric N. Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 Is that why thay call ya Crazy Jim! That color looks almost like the plastic color. What is the primer(color)?
slusher Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 Another awsume build Jim. Nice touch on the hemi. Your a very creative builder..
Harry P. Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 With those giant square headlights it looks like it's wearing glasses!
TooOld Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 Great looking Prowler Jim ! Beautiful paint and the Hemi fits like a glove !
crazyjim Posted May 14, 2013 Author Posted May 14, 2013 Thank you, folks. The Hemi actually fit in very easily. I was surprised. Eric, the plastic was white and I used black primer.
Jantrix Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 I love the hemi and the headlights and of course your finish is awesome. I think you should have taken the headlight idea even further. Lose the side marker light, the 3rd break light, the stock tail lights and drop on some classic teardrop tail lights. Maybe some old school side mirrors too.
crazyjim Posted May 14, 2013 Author Posted May 14, 2013 Thank you Lee. Appreciate it. Rob - I build what I want the way I want. I don't ask for advise if I should do one thing or another. Side marker light - maybe. Brake light - no way. Stock taillights - thought was given to do something different. Teardrop taillights -NOT! I never really liked them on anything. I like the mirrors. I also gave thought to changing the wheels/tires for some Pegasus units. That would have ruined the effect I was going for, which was a modified Prowler, but not modified so much that it wouldn't be recognized as a Prowler. I purposely wanted to keep the Hemi under the stock hood as an example. Thank you for your input, though. Say Rob - are you going to the Southlandz deal? I just saw the flyer earlier today. It would be a 2 hour drive for me and it's expensive to enter the contest, but it's a definite possibility.
Jantrix Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 Sorry Jim, no offense intended, its just in my nature to see a theme and run with it as far as possible. I'll keep such things like that to myself from now on. If the Southlandz show is the same one thats been in Pinellas Park the last few years then yes I'm familiar. They have an excellent swap meet. The show................I'm torn on. they are a great bunch of guys in that club but they do all judging by popular vote, so that the club members can participate. Last time I was there I overheard a woman saying she was going to vote for "that one" because of the "pretty color". Imagine loosing first place because someone's favorite color was blue. If you want some great deals on kits by all means come for the swap meet, but I wouldn't drive two hours for the show.
crazyjim Posted May 15, 2013 Author Posted May 15, 2013 Thanks, Al. No problem, Rob. That's the same swap meet/contest. I don't care for popular vote judging either. The part that bothers me is the $5 admission fee just to look around.
johnbuzzed Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 That's pretty cool, the color seems very close to the molded color of the snap-fast Prowler kit. I've thought about building a Prowler as a slant-6 powered rat rod...
crazyjim Posted May 15, 2013 Author Posted May 15, 2013 Thanks, fellas. A slant six would be interesting but not a rat rod. I need SHINY :)
Davewilly Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 Very nice...and Quick Prowler you got there! I like what you did with it.
crazyjim Posted May 16, 2013 Author Posted May 16, 2013 Thank you, Dave. I would imagine a 1:1 with a Hemi would move pretty good.
sarkasim99 Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 I think its pretty interesting. I have that same hemi motor in a project right now. Overall it looks pretty good...there are a few things I would touch up before taking close photos but overall its pretty cool.
crazyjim Posted May 16, 2013 Author Posted May 16, 2013 Thank, Ben. The engine is from the '69 GTX kit.
