Lyle Willits Posted October 20, 2007 Posted October 20, 2007 (edited) Yeah. I know, another Merc! But this has been our club logo for 19 years. Caddy wheel covers are from SJS Resin (long gone) with a bullet added to the center. '53 Buick trim from Replicas & Miniatures Co. of Md. and lakes pipes from DUDEK. Although Reps & Mins makes an excellent set of Buick headlights, these are from The Modelhaus. I added clear lenses. Kit engine with some detailing. Small bullet tailights from the parts box. Sunken license plate (M.A.M.A. was founded in 9/88). Photoetched club plate from Reps & Mins. Reshaped bubble skirts to match the logo. The club logo was drawn 19 years ago by Dave Roehle (Dave in the Hat) Edited October 20, 2007 by Lyle Willits
Bowtienutz Posted October 20, 2007 Posted October 20, 2007 Looking good there Lyle, Art form brought foward into another art form. How fast can you build a 1:1 of the real thing Can't wait to see it at the next Meeting. Vince
Daniel Peterson Posted October 20, 2007 Posted October 20, 2007 That's beautiful Lyle! I'd heard you were doing this, and as usual, you nailed it! However, the logo car is two dimensional, but this appears to be three dimensional. Not entirely accurate, but you tried.) Any thoughts on building a logo car from, oh, I don't know...a certain Model Car Club from Central Pennsylvania?
Andy Wyatt Posted October 20, 2007 Posted October 20, 2007 She's a beauty Lyle! I really like the side trim on those cars...guess I'll have to e-mail Norm. Dan, I actually started a logo car for the CPMCC but when I tried to paint flames on it it was so hideous I nearly quit modelling altogether! It went straight to the purple pond and from there straight back into the box. Might try it again...someday.
walt francis Posted October 20, 2007 Posted October 20, 2007 Lyle, Fantastic job and the headlights really set this baby off .
Taxdude Posted October 20, 2007 Posted October 20, 2007 I'd heard you were doing this, and as usual, you nailed it! However, the logo car is two dimensional, but this appears to be three dimensional. Not entirely accurate, but you tried.) It is very difficult to build in the mythical 3rd dimension.

However, the logo car is two dimensional, but this appears to be three dimensional. Not entirely accurate, but you tried. The model is much like my stomach. For many years it was flat, but in recent years it has developed quite a few dimensions.
Exotics_Builder Posted October 20, 2007 Posted October 20, 2007 Well, I think I'll put my 49 kit back in the box and move on to a Ferrari kit That is really neat!!!!!!!!!
cruz Posted October 20, 2007 Posted October 20, 2007 Had a chance to see it today at the meeting, superb job Prez.......
MrObsessive Posted October 21, 2007 Posted October 21, 2007 Y'all are gonna convince me to stop everything and build one yet! That's a real beauty Lyle! Couldn't get to the meeting today (also not sure about the CPMCC meeting for Nov.) but I'd definitely like to see it in person at the next MAMA meeting!
Alfa Posted October 21, 2007 Posted October 21, 2007 Nice looking Merc Lyle, but everything you do is top notch.
gasman Posted October 21, 2007 Posted October 21, 2007 amazing as usually. mines still collecting dust in the box, still getting parts together to build it.
Irvin Arter Jr. Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 Lyle you are the MAN or errr MAMA'S BOY you should break out the old one and take a few photos also next to the new one.
Ron Hamilton Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 Truly remarkable, Lyle. Sorry I couldn't make the meeting.
Lyle Willits Posted October 23, 2007 Author Posted October 23, 2007 Lyle you are the MAN or errr MAMA'S BOY you should break out the old one and take a few photos also next to the new one. There is no old one. I started one many years ago, screwed it up, and put it back in the box.
