FIREMODELMAN Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 This WIP is my current build. It's for a friend of my dad's, who is a Deputy here in Butler county, Ohio. He had seen the 65 Biscane wagon I built for my dad, (his first Patrol car) and asked my dad if I could do one for him. Of coarse I said YES. My dad's friend started road patrol way back in 77. He drove a Dodge St. Regis. Well since that car was never kitted, resin cast, or diecast I had to settle for the next best thing, The Monaco from the Dukes line up. The car will wear correct county plates, with number 77, and correct door decals with the ' then ' sheriff's name on it, just as it would have been in 1977. I also will build the 65 wagon , also with proper door stars and matching unit number for 1965. Waiting on the body to arrive from the Modelhaus to star that one. Thanks for looking , Dave.
tomsheehy Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 Nice job so far making that simple lightbar look more realistic. But I'm used to that from you.
1972coronet Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 (edited) Nice work so far , David . A *tiny* suggestion , and please take it only as such : the 1977 models had ambre turn signal lenses on the tail lamps . This was a one year only deal ; it's easy enough to simply paint the ambre over the red-cast lamps . Let me see if I can pull-up an image as a reference . EDIT : The only photo I could find of the tail lights of a 1977 Monaco (see attached photo) . Too bad that the car's at an angle ; however , the taillamps are 'clearly' ambre . FIREMODELMAN Posted June 4, 2013 Author Posted June 4, 2013 Thanks for all the nice compliments guy's. Tom that light bar was so easy to 'spruce up', I don't know why I never did it before. John, Thank you for the tip. I did catch that while I was doing my research for this car. I was afraid that maybe I had missed something else. What I did was just to foil the kit red clear lenses, then re-paint them all with Tamiya clear colors. I dont think it looks to bad, do you? The County plates I had on hand had a '77' , so that's why I went with this year. I also have a 1965 Biscane in the works for the same guy. Waiting on the Modelhaus resin wagon body for that . I have the 65 donor car already. Here's a shot of the rear bumper and lights, and a mock up.
David G. Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 Great job! Even better for having starting with a so-so kit. I built the Gotham City Police version last year. David G.
slusher Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 Nice work on the light bar and interior detail. Tail lights also look great...
