Guest Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 For a moment I though Lee had posted a Hillman Avenger! Personally I have trouble going past this. Or this The Cricket is a rebadged Hillman Avenger. Sorry, but nothing in this ' list ' nails it for me. Customs, , hot rods or street rods do anything for me I like style , character, and am a huge fan of late 50's to very early 60's fin cars and muscle cars . And early 60's to early 70's drag cars. primarily Stocks, Super Stocks, and funny cars I have zero interest in altereds, gassers . or much of anything race car wise newer than approx 1973 - 1974 time frame pretty much a ditto.
zenrat Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 The Cricket is a rebadged Hillman Avenger. So I wasn't going mad! I didn't know they did that. Avengers were 10 a penny while I was growing up. None in that good a condition though. I've got loads of questions about the Plymouth Cricket but i'm going to google first.

Richard Bartrop Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 (edited) A few highlights. From the classic era:. Edited September 9, 2013 by Richard Bartrop
Tom Geiger Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 Here's two cars that always grabbed my heart from the moment I saw them as new cars... First up, the 1990s Celica GT convertible in red. I once had the opportunity to buy a low mile beauty in black, but it just wasn't the same. Finally, we found this one. My daughter drove it for a few years, now it has reverted to dad! She now has a Fiat 500. The Jaguar S Type. It just evokes that classic Jag look. I always watched as one rolled by. I saw this one for sale by a Rolls / Bentley dealer on eBay. It is a 2000 and only had 23,000 miles on it. So I drove there and it was as nice as in the ad. A quick $10,500 later and it was mine. It now has 30,000 miles on it without a single issue. We don't drive it daily, it's our Sunday driver. So those are two modern designs that just make my heart beat faster. I had to wait a long time for them to come down to my price range!
Richard Bartrop Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 From the 1960's. I have a particular fondness for the "Less is More" aesthetic that was going on:
Richard Bartrop Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 And the 80's I still think this is the best looking generation of Firebird.
Richard Bartrop Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 I haven't been following newer cars a lot, but I think this thing is flat out gorgeous.
charlie8575 Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 I knew I forgot something- the 1961-69 Continentals! I love those. I think those, without question, in the top 5 for best-looking car ever produced in this country. For me, you can really add anything that has extra-heavy Art Deco influence, too. Richard- what is that ultra-modern car? Charlie Larkin

Richard- what is that ultra-modern car? Charlie Larkin I could have easily made that list 10 times as long. There's plenty of good stuff that I left out. The black and copper number is the Peugeot Onyx concept that made its debut last year.
Richard Bartrop Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 As far as models go, just go peruse Bernard Kron's builds. He has a talent for coming up with hot rods that consistently have all the right proportions. Also, Darryl Starbird's designs for Monogram. His T and Deuce models are just about the platonic ideal of what a hot rod should be.
LokisTyro Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 For interiors a Spyker will do. Have you seen those interiors! For an exterior I will always adore the XJ13. For drivetrain looks I'd say older Ferraris and Alfa Romeos nail it. And for an overall car I like the Aston Martin Vantage (any year), the TVR Sagaris, McLaren F1LM and the Shelby GT350R. Ascari cars are nice too. There's really too many to list.
Evilbenny Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 One day I will own one similar to this.
