comp1839 Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 (edited) wow, i guess i stepped on a few ego's here. you know, i removed the comments (out of respect to ray, not because they were incorrect.) but, you guys just love a dogpile don't ya. first thing. i NEVER said anything negative about the build. in fact i like it. second my reply was to dave c. who's comment was "I'm no mechanic but I would think if you can get better traction, you could put in more clutch. Less slip, more grip. Bye Bye!" i'm sorry if what i know about drag racing offends you....... too bad. get over it. there are smarter people out there, in the real world. by the way, were ANY of my comments incorrect? third, bill, if things changed a little from 1902 to 1903. imagine .........it's 2013. the "experts" ain't guessing no more. ray, i apologize to you. this should have stopped a long way back. cobraman Posted July 21, 2013 Author Posted July 21, 2013 Dave, my friend no need to apologize for anything. Nobodys comments were taken poorly or hurt my feelings. I like feedback good or otherwise. I really love those guys that go the extra mile to insure a build is accurate and do the research and extra detailing that makes a model come alive. I have much respect for them. Nobody was rude or said my build "sucks" and to be truthful I would be ok if someone did. Some of the comments made generated alot of photos of strange and interesting automobiles, gotta love that. Now I have to go build another "fantasy" build before going back to building something more normal. Thank you all for your comments.
Harry P. Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 Thanks guys. When I was building this I thought about also adding the other engine but I thought "No, that would just be crazy ! ". : ) Good thing you kept it sane! So when are you going to build a model of that "Octo-Auto?" Seems like it's right up your alley! BTW... congratulations for taking our comments in the spirit they were meant.
cobraman Posted July 22, 2013 Author Posted July 22, 2013 Ya know, building that Octo-Auto may not be that hard. I see it purple and with a Hemi. Maybe 2 ! : )
Danno Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 One last comment. Nobody ever bangs on Ira because his fantasy builds ... 'Gee, that might not work.' It is a creative hobby, after all, and fantasy or over-the-top imagination has its place, too. Just saying! Y'all may resume sorting and counting rivets. {That was a joke, James!}
vintagestang Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 Thanks guys. When I was building this I thought about also adding the other engine but I thought "No, that would just be crazy ! ". : ) You're right it would be crazy to add another engine. That's why it needs two more!
comp1839 Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 "one last comment" ? don't make me laugh. your ability to read is appalling, danno. you and the rest of the "dogpile freedom fighters club" have once again started trouble where there was NONE. if you have a problem with me, at least have the testicular fortidude to bring it to me directly. stop using the guise that someone needs YOUR help. ray has already said there is no problem and still you keep trodding down the path of" ira needs to be saved................whether he likes it or not". just for the record. 1) if ray (sorry ray) didn't want anyone to comment on the build, there's a section for that. it's called "on the workbench". it might be a good suggestion for you, john and darryl to hang out there. it's a safe place. 2) you may want to re-think (if that's possible for you) the " nobody ever bangs on ira....." comment. it sounds a little bit like a threat. 3) if you are going to quote sombody ( "gee... that might not work."). at least get it right. i said.............. it won't work!

You may be overly sensitive, Dave. Nothing was directed at you in particular or to the exclusion of anyone else. I'm sorry that you misinterpreted my post. And my observation wasn't limited to this thread alone. I just think it interesting that some builders get an 'anything goes' free pass while others attract the 'won't work in 1:1' type critiques. I have excellent reading comprehension skills, Dave, and, yes, re-thinking is possible. There were no threats, real, implied, or imaginary. I'm not a member or participant in any 'dogpile freedom fighters club' either real or imaginary, and I did not start any trouble. PS: Sorry to disappoint you again, but I was not quoting you. Most importantly, I have brought nothing you to directly (or indirectly) because I have no problem with you. Even despite your snide and personal attacks. Sorry to disappoint you. And I'm sorry you see boogie men where there aren't any. Sorry you were having a bad day, but you were neither the focus nor the center of the universe when I posted my general observation. PPS: Nice signature quote. You should live it. Ray, Sorry your thread got derailed. Edited July 23, 2013 by Danno
comp1839 Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 danno, i happen to be big enough to apologize when i'm wrong. from where i'm standing, you're comments came across just as snide as the replies i made. if you weren't quoting me, who were you quoting?...........just asking. i still question if you read the response as no one "banged" ira. my response was, in fact, geared toward responding to david c. if i made a mistake, i truly apolotgize. if you were really not adding fuel to the fire........why make a comment like that? in this thread?

I said it too, I meant no slight to you by any means. I'm sorry if it seemed to strike to close to home. It was not intended to do so. I know that no one 'banged' Ira. That was actually my point. It is interesting how some people can post phantasy builds or phantom models without a single post from anyone critiquing the build by commenting 'Gee, that won't work' or words to a similar effect, while on the other hand, some people can post phantasy builds or phantom models that attract commentary about whether their work is real-world accurate or real-world realistic, plausible, or feasible. That's all I was articulating. > (I mentioned Ira only to illustrate the point, because he has a couple of very popular threads currently going that involve phantom/phantasy builds.) I have all the respect in the world for Ira's uber-creative phantom/phantasy builds! I likewise respect Ray's (or anyone else's) talent, right, and privilege to create phantom/phantasy builds without having their feet held to the rivet-counting fire of reality/replication/accuracy. I did not mean to create the impression I was calling you out, as I did not intend to call you out. I stand by my comment, but it was not meant to target you or your post, directly or otherwise. Again, my apologies if you misunderstood my post and if it was oblique enough to cause you to misunderstand it. Communication is a two-way street, even on the internet. If my end failed you, I apologize also. Peace?
slusher Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 l don't know how l missed this. Very cool build Ray. Looks like lots of work and thought. Very unique and inventive....
cobraman Posted July 24, 2013 Author Posted July 24, 2013 Thanks Carl. It's a weird thing to be sure.
Burnout Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 Very cool model. Along with everything else, the paint scheme is pretty cool too. Your creativity is very inspirational. Thanks for sharing the ride...
Russell C Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 Tuning in a bit late here, but while searching for something else, I ran across your WIP thread for it, then had to see how it turned out. Fabulous, and as folks who know me somewhat well will say, I have a particular weakness for demented thinking. Hey, I resemble that remark!
Jimmy Wilson Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 Looks good to me. Nothing wrong with "what ifs" or fantasy builds, especially if it pleases the builder. I think another motor might have just been way cool !
Truck parts Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 I think it's cool looking,and back in the 70's there was a dragster call freight train,and it had two motors,and other one call the odd couple.
