Ridgeback Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 Hi All. I'm Darren. I'm trying to get back into modelling after about 15 years out. My main hobbies are motorbikes and cars, but I have always had a soft spot for model cars and trucks, so the build I'm starting with is a post apocalyptic model of a Revell Krupp Titan 1/24th scale. It was browsing that subject on the net, that led me here I've made a start with detailing and painting the engine, now I'm just looking for inspiration on the rest. There are some incredibley talented people on here and I hope to pick a few brains. Cheers Daz.
PappyD340 Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 WELCOME, to the best modeling forum on the web Darren, and welcome back to the hobby, I believe you will be able to find anything you need on this forum, many talented builders on here, and most will share their knowledge with you, just ask, look forward to seeing some of your work, Enjoy yourself!!
beeRS Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 Hi Daz, Welcome. You are not far from me - I'm in Essex. If you are returning after 15 years then you were probably a model builder in the 1990's like me. Did you ever attend any of the (few and far between) model contests over here? Great Leigh's, Donnington, Watford...
Ridgeback Posted July 31, 2013 Author Posted July 31, 2013 Thanks guys. Hey sonny. I'm afraid i've never shown any of the models I've built in the past. I don't think any of them would have been of a high enough standard. The majority ended up in a parts bin, which I threw out a few years back, to make room in the garage for my supermoto. pretty gutting as there were thousands of bits, which now I'm interested again, would have been pretty useful Still I do quite a bit of rummaging at car boots and the like,so I'm sure a few things will turn up.
Foxer Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 Welcome, Darren. If you're doing a post apocalyptic build be sure to peruse Dr Cranky's community build here. I came across another one looking for the first ... Hopefully will give some ideas.
