James2 Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 In 09 when Revell came out with the all new tool 1969 Nova SS, the gas tank was molded backwards! I remember cutting mine out and gluing it in the right position. Now as I build another of these great kits, I see the tank is in the correct position. Is it possible Revell corrected it's mistake or have the styrene gnomes been at it again? Just curious, have you seen this or any other corrections made after a new release?
Harry P. Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 They did correct it. Lindberg also corrected the lower windshield curvature on their '61 Impala kit.
Greg Myers Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 And don't forget the Monogram '69 Charger body deal.
ChrisBcritter Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 They did correct it. Lindberg also corrected the lower windshield curvature on their '61 Impala kit. Along with the slots on the top of the grille, and weren't there some other items that were fixed? Add to that the corrected grille on the AMT '62 Bel Air, and the upside down script on the '63 LeMans. Jo-Han issued the USA Oldies '62 Plymouth Fury with the wrong wheelcovers, but corrected them at some point.
Scale-Master Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 Good thing all those positive retooling changes/corrections didn't put 'em all out of business.
Greg Myers Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 The most famous example of this is probably Revell completely retooling its '69 Charger body after the roof of the original one came out horribly botched. Oooops. Some one already said that.
Chuck Kourouklis Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 (edited) Yes, Greg, but you brought up such a great example that it bore repeating. And as for that Lindberg Impala, hoo boy - they also had to retool the windshield wipers to conform to the new cowl, upper instrument panel surface too I think, and I seem to recall them adjusting the sideview mirror stalks while they were at it. I think they updated to a proper single-carb air cleaner from an original dual-snorkel one, too. And yet. Not only did they not go out of business but respond properly when GM Licensing held their feet to the fire, they went on to produce a few more really solid kits - one of which, the '53 Ford, is just about an all-time classic. Too bad there's no similar precedent from Revell. Oh WAIT - yes there is. That selfsame '69 Charger. In addition to the Nova gas tank you noticed. And the corrected 500KR intake. And the tampo-printed Oldsmobile tires AND the clear strobe lenses for the Mustang LX that they'll mail you free of charge if you ask for 'em. Revell has demonstrated that they're NOT STUPID ENOUGH to go out of business by refusing to produce any more kits out of spite for bad reviews. And on something of a flip side, they've also demonstrated they're NOT STUPID ENOUGH to go out of business when they're caught in a goof. Edited August 2, 2013 by Chuck Kourouklis

But they "Revell" are not smart enough to do things right 100% of the time Edited August 2, 2013 by martinfan5
Harry P. Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 But they are not smart enough to do things right 100% of the time But who is?
Danno Posted August 3, 2013 Posted August 3, 2013 Fixed That's not what he meant. {Right over the head!}
zenrat Posted August 3, 2013 Posted August 3, 2013 But who is? Politicians. When was the last time you heard one of them (of any political bent) admit to a mistake?
