Harry P. Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 The seatbelt buckles look kinda but the paint is nice Yup. The belt material should thread through the "tongue" part... not under it like he has.
Silver Foxx Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 A beautiful build , so nice - this man's work is top class.
Ron Hamilton Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 (edited) Delicious! Edited August 13, 2013 by Ron Hamilton
jeffs396 Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 Incredible Olds Donn!!! Hope to see it at Castle Shannon in person next month
W-409 Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 This is incredible build. The paint job is so shiny and smooth, that it looks like glass. Also the detailing is amazing. It could very well be in Real Or Model, and that one would be very hard to say which one it is. Great work.
charlie8575 Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 Clean, nicely-executed, and that color...it looks really nice on this. Charlie Larkin
Sixx Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 Geez...I had to put my sunglasses on!!! I dig that color, what is it?? Sweet stuff Donn, thanks for showin it Doc!!
Jantrix Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 Donn sure does great work, but someday we are gonna have to teach him to post his own stuff.
LoneWolf15 Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 Hi , Gang ! Thanks so much for the compliments , I really appreciate it ! Revell's kit , painted with a custom mix of Testors enamels with a Pearl X laden clear overlay . Used the small block from the AMT ' 66 Nova , stole the tires from the '48 Ford and the hubcaps from the '49 Merc . Machined aluminum rear pumpkin cover courtesy of Mr Bob Dudek . Stainless steel tubing from MAS , wire and fittings from Detail Master , and the air cleaners are a Parts By Park item . I also lowered it a bit , frame wise . Great kit , went together like a dream until the final assembly , front fenders would simply not meet the splash pan . I sanded the dash and the top of the fire wall which lowered it enough so I could drill through the splash pan and into the bottom of the fender . I then cut a straight pin down to the proper length , applied super glue and slid it up through the pan into the fender , pinning the two together . I found out a bit later that others had struggled with the same problem , so this is just a heads up for those who plan on building the kit ! The Old Man
circaboy Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 Joel, as much as I would love to take credit for this one, it's Donn's model. He built it. Donn simply keeps his build archives in my Fotki archives. I just post them here to share them with the rest of the world. Ooops! Don's one of the best too !
Cato Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 Yup. The belt material should thread through the "tongue" part... not under it like he has. While we're at it and not to be an ass, but that rear a/r bar snaps at the first turn. The brackets should attach to the chassis and the links to the control arms... Meticulous work and finish-typical Yost.
MikeyB08 Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 Amazing build!! And Donn- Hope you don't mind but I'm going to post the small review you did for the kit on my Model Car Kit Review page on Facebook along with some of your photo's. All credit, of course, will be in your name.
