Harry P. Posted September 2, 2013 Posted September 2, 2013 Remember. do not post hints or answers here! PM me with specific year, make and model. In case you think the infamous Cadillac "bustleback" design was something the designers at Cadillac came up with on their own... uh, no. The answer: Daimler DS420 (1968-92)
kennb Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 I almost bought this car but older version............................................................. i was surprised then as to what is is.............................................
george 53 Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 Most DEFINATELY NOT a Cadillac design. It's TOO ostentatious. Caddy's are only KINDA ostentatious.(LoL,did I spell it right?)
Harry P. Posted September 3, 2013 Author Posted September 3, 2013 I don't want to suggest that there's plagiarism in the automotive styling world, but...
Deano Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 I don't want to suggest that there's plagiarism in the automotive styling world, but... And such a beautiful design to steal.
sjordan2 Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 (edited) To me, Cadillac jumped the shark when they took the lean, clean Seville and came up with this overweight-looking, fuddy-duddy trunk. Edited September 5, 2013 by sjordan2
Harry P. Posted September 6, 2013 Author Posted September 6, 2013 Wow! A lot of you got this one right. It's a Daimler DS420. They were built fromn 1968-92. I'm not sure of the exact model year on this one, and your answers were all over the place, but if you said Daimler DS420, you were right! Modelmartin Posted September 7, 2013 Posted September 7, 2013 That type of razor-edge styling has been seen in English coachwork since the late 30s usually on Rolls Royces.
Harry P. Posted September 7, 2013 Author Posted September 7, 2013 Hey, when did I get De moted????? Typo...
Pete J. Posted September 7, 2013 Posted September 7, 2013 I got this one but thought I would share how I found it. Initially I was looking on line and found nothing even close so I gave up. The next day I was relaxing and watching a movie on TV and the car showed up. Julia Roberts and George Clooney were climbing in at the end of Oceans 12. Close up shot as they put the suitcases in the boot and closed it. Bingo!
otherunicorn Posted September 7, 2013 Posted September 7, 2013 I took a look at the lines, thought it's either a Jag or Daimler. Looked at the hubcap. Yup, Daimler. A mate and I went touring in a Daimler Regency back in '86. He bought a Majestic Major after that.
