I have a great friend who is always hooking me up with parts and kits. Yesterday he passed these on to me to finish up.

Since they are both curbsides and are mostly finished I'm hoping that it won't take lonig. I will be starting on them on Saturday. I gave the bodies a good bath today while on break at work.

I think that they are both Aoshima or Fujimi kits.First up is a Nissan Skyline.

I'm already thinking of changing the wheels on the Mercedes to these- if I can find two more.

If you have any wheels like these without the chrome center cap, (I added those) please let me know and we can do a trade.

Here is what the wheel looks like. I need two. They can be chrome too, if that is what you have. I am not sure if these were sprayed with red anodizing paint by my friend. PM me and let's do a trade so I can get this finished.

You're correct ... the first, blue car, is a Nissan Skyline ... in Japan, anyway. here it was the Infiniti G35 Coupe. I'll be looking forward to your build as I had a 1:1 and have that kit on the bench. It is a Fujimi and here's a link to my still on workbench build if you're interested. Be very careful of the front as it's pretty delicate.

A Lexus. That will work. Thanks for the info.

Mike- Thanks for the link to your build and the warning. Yours is looking great. You need to get back to it.

I don't know how long ago my buddy started these but he has gotten out of the euro stuff and gave them to me to finish. The chin of the Lexus has a break right in the bottom center of it that I will have to repair. Unless he finds more parts to these I will have to make do with what I have. So these could.become very basic shelf models.

I can't remember what kit this is but, i am pretty sure this is a Lexus. I will try to double check and let you know for sure.

Anyway, I like these two cars. Will be cool seeing them built up.

EDIT

I am pretty sure it is a variant of this Toyota kit.

Tonight I am sitting at the dining room table, sucking on a bottle of suds and working on making a grille for the Lexus.

After I get the quarter round glued around the perimeter I will make some grille bars from brass rod.

Thanks to Customsrus I have some wheels like the red ones, but in chrome, on the way. I'll have to get some red anodized paint to shoot them with.

Ready for the brass rod. I also added a small decal from the Revell RSX kit to help hide the break in the front air dam. I tried to find one with a vertical line to cover the break. The J in this one does rather fine.

Got the grille finished, with the exception of the Alclad.

I think I am finished for the night.

Comments and criticisms welcomed.

Looks pretty good. Since you covered the crack, I guess you are keeping the color. Good thing because it suits the car IMO.

Im glad you indicated what you were using in the middle of the grille. Next time I am in the hobby shop, I think I am going to try getting some of that brass rod and try my hand at Alclad to see if I can make some billet for a couple trucks.

The grille is pretty easy to make. I bought a sheet of the smallest corrugated plastic I could find. I think that it was v- groove with the grooves about 1/32 apart. The grooves give the rod something to sit in and helps to keep the spacing. Here is what I bought it for.

I used it to make the grille on my custom Mustang.

Got some more done today. I spent the day looking through my parts boxes and kits for parts to complete this. I used a piece of computer speaker grilles painted with flat black as mesh in the lower dam.

IMAG0085.jpg

I cut circles of BMF for the headlight buckets and found various headlights to fill in the six lights. Now I need to get some clear plastic to form headlight covers.

I also managed to scrounge up a shifter lever and possibly some other interior pieces. That's it for today.

I picked up another painted body from my friend last night. This time an RX-7.

Too bad I couldn't get a better photo of the paintjob. It really shines. It is HOK Sunburst yellow with a flip- flop blue to green over it.

I will probably wait to work on this one until after I finish my 50 Ford.

Just as an FYI it's not a variation of the Toyota Aristo (well kit-wise it is, I believe the Aristo came before the Lexus release-wise), but that IS a Toyota Aristo. The Lexus GS400 kits were LHD as the Lexus GS wasn't sold in Japan, it was the Toyota Aristo over there. The Lexus kit only includes the LHD parts, and you're sporting a RHD interior.

I received some Pegasus Beemer wheels (along with a couple other sets) from "customsrus". Thank you!

I painted them with red anodizing paint.

I will add some chrome buttons in the center for caps and aluminum rings once the paint dries. I have been making clear lenses for the lights out of plastic from packaging containers.

My buddy told me that he found more parts to this kit that I will be picking up tonight. Should be able to get some progress done this weekend.
