thieves!

some "less fortunate" souls cut the fence at the apartment jobsite i'm working at, broke a window (at lock-up stage) ripped out a bunch of the plumbing (copper) & jacked some other stuff. i found out what the "other stuff" was.

i was at about 60 ft up when the Genie died. the bums had siphoned the fuel out of it....i'm glad WCBworksafe  was not around. got my buddy to go inside & open a bathroom window (2x1!!) then i did a "controlled" reach slash fall off the bucket rail for the window....was bloomin hard squeezing threw that window

No way I could have went in that window. Every night on the news here is someone stealing trailers and equipment...

Dan... As you know I have a good reason the hate thieves but others may not....a few years ago just before Christmas our house got broken into and they caused a lot of damage...plus they stole what they could and found my model room and collection of my dads and my childhood ones.  Most of a 40+ year collection gone or badly damaged...around 100 old promos,100+ old kits, etc. just gone...I was devastated...now trying to repair and replace some memories.

Mark, did insurance cover them?  When my house was robbed in 96 they left my home a mess but didn't even go in the model room....

Nope we had no insurance.  We have a dog now.  That is one of the reasons my parts needed list is so huge for what is still here of my dads collection....just a few remain of mine from my childhood days.  Been searching for the parts but not much of any luck yet for them and cant afford resins at this point in time so Ill have to find someone with the parts there not in need of using....I have to restore what is left somehow.

I just hope none of you ever have to go through this.

Testor paint. Shooting Curly"s Gasser with Testor's Model Master Plum Crazy enamel paint. I should know better. Never use Testor's enamel for painting model car bodies! Even with a proper primer put down first. The dammed stuff still ran. So out comes the sand paper.

I use Testors enamel paint all the time, only for brush painting parts such as suspension, engine, trans, steering wheels, etc. and also for detail painting. Lacquers only when I'm painting bodies.

Yea, if I use Testor's enamel it is normally for things you mention. But, I specially wanted the color Plum Crazy. Testor has Plum Crazy in their Model Master line, in both enamel and lacquer. I made the mistake of buying the enamel. Thinking I was buying the lacquer. Bought it through the mail. Too much of a hassle to return it. Man! I hate Testor's enamel. I had to be Plum Crazy to even try it.

Back to lacquer. Mainly Tamiya.

Mistakes always happen, this is my Plum Crazy Duster I finished a few years back using the Model Master Lacquer..................

Ok, maybe one of you Geeks out there can explain this to me, because I am just plain baffled.  Every time my internet provider announces a "new, faster" internet service at an additional premium cost, if I don't upgrade to the new service, it seems as if my internet slows down!  I sometimes feel that I need to upgrade to stay at the same speed. :blink:

To convince you to switch to the "new, improved" product, they sabotage the "what I have now is good enough" product...

That's what I'm thinking!

After sitting in the dehydrator for a day, the Plum Crazy enamel paint looks better than I expected. Not great. But not terrible either. A very small, but noticeable to me, flaw on the nose of the hood that I'm debating on what to do. But, even that's too bad. So I may just leave it alone.

Those d### 10 year old temptresses camped out in front of the grocery stores.  I can't seem to get by them without dropping $20 on Thin Mints!!  Got a freezer full of them, but I just know I will run out before next year!

My property tax bill irked me today.

It's amazing how in a world where home values are generally falling, property taxes are rising!

I've wondered about the same thing for awhile.  Costs for road maintenance and upkeep, plus municipal employee's salary increases just keep rising......  and don't get me started on continually rising School Taxes.  I'm almost 69 years old and have NO kids in school...... Why should I even have to pay any school taxes..??

I know... I know... It's supposedly "fairer" for everyone to share the school tax burden than to only have the families of school children pay them......  I just don't agree with that reasoning.

Rich, I agree with you.

I have three kids... they are all adults now, but when they were kids they all went to public school, which was paid for via my property taxes. And I had absolutely no problem with that. But once your kids are no longer in school, why do you still have to pay the part of property tax that goes toward schools? Or what if you are single, or a couple, and don't have any kids at all? Is it fair for those people to pay for schools?

I think that property owners who have kids in public schools should pay for those schools, but people who don't have kids in the system shouldn't have to subsidize those who do.
