crazyjim Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 After over a year long battle with the VA (Veterans Administration) my claim for PTSD was finally approved today. Not only will I be getting a monthly, tax free check, I also get back pay to August 2012. Now starts the big battle. I originally filed in January 1983 and I want the back pay. Since they, the VA, agree that I'm crazy now, I was even worse in 1983 when they denied the claim. The money will be deposited soon so I'm on a serious hunt for a 1:1 Baja Bug. Hello ebay. Fellow Veterans - if you have problems connected to your military service - FILE A CLAIM!! When the VA denies your claim, APPEAL THE DECISION! Just keep after them. You put you life on the line for your country and you deserve to be taken care of. OK. I'm feel better now and I'll off the soapbox.
TooOld Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 Congrats Jim ! It's unfortunate you had to fight for what you truly deserve . Anyone else in this situation needs to keep fighting for their benefits and don't give up until they receive them !
Tom Geiger Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 Congrats Jim... and you're spending the money on a Baja bug? You are crazy!
slusher Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 Congrats Jim, you have to stay after them...
59 Impala Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 Good to hear this Jim, and congratulations. I have a claim in also for injuries back in 1967. I've been fighting this since 1970 when I got out. I was told that my records were lost in a fire in 1980 and now they have been found. The VA went back one year for me also and I'm fighting them to go back to at least 1980 when I was told the records were lost. 1980 is when I have proof in black and white that the VA turned me down and that's where they need to go back to as far as I'm concerned for back pay. I won't quit until I get the results that are due me. Dan
