tbill Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 So, I have officially deemed myself an idiot. I haven't built a model in a very long time, so I decided to get back into it, and have been stocking up on big rig kits, paint and supplies [and reading this forum a ton]. I decided on big rigs, as I knew somewhere in my attic I had a 1/25th Wilson livestock trailer that was un built, and was my grandfathers that he bought new 'back in the day'. So yesterday after I got home from work, I decided to dig out the trailer to put it with all the other trailers I have. I get up in the attic [which looks like an episode of hoarders] and get looking around. I find the trailer in about 2 minutes and set it aside, all of a sudden, I spot another model box behind a pile of other stuff, so I take a closer look, and find these.. these have been up there so long, I completely forgot I had them! I guess when my revell auto transporter shows up, I don't have to buy anything to build to put on it, lol.
o-man Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 Cool find. I'm somewhat tempted to look in my Dad's attic to see if any I built in my early teens are still there. If so, they have probably warped from the heat.
'70 Grande Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 That's a nice "motherload" of kits you've discovered; sure wish I could have the same thing happen at my house!
tbill Posted September 21, 2013 Author Posted September 21, 2013 ya, forgotten treasure, lol. I was talking to my son this morning and he says I should have more stashed away in boxes wrapped in shopping bags.......maybe i'll hunt around more tomorrow up there and see if he's right.......
High octane Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 Good find as I'm hopin' to find one of those '66 Chevelle kits at the swap meet tomorrow.
slusher Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 Finding a small stash is a very cool thing..
my80malibu Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 Yes your a hoarder. In this case it worked out in a good way.
ToyLvr Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 Kinda like finding a $20 bill in your coat that you haven't worn since last winter, only better!
Tom Geiger Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 Best I did was when I was insulating the attic in my old house. As I pulled out the old thin insulation, I was rewarded with a bunch of old Johan model parts. Mostly small stuff, but I was happy to find them. No doubt from a previous occupant of the house.
Slapfight Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 Someone really likes A bodies. Nice stash find.
John Goschke Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 I must be old 'cause those look like nearly-new kits to me...
mrknowetall Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 Welcome to my world. When we moved in 2009, I had to repack a bunch of model kits for transport. I found stuff I had completely forgotten about, some in duplicates.

I had been wanting a PT Cruiser convertible for some time. I kept looking at shows and hobby shops but nobody seemed to have one. Then I sorted out my hoard and found two of them. Never remembered seeing them before!

Even those who say they don't, secretly do. Personally, I'd love to find one of those AMT 'Caminos in my stash. For some reason, I love cars that can't decide whether they are a passenger car or pickup truck.
