signguy2108 Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 A friend of mine bought a new box van for his business yesterday, so naturally I awoke this morning thinking of this. Laid out, cut , & assembled the basics in about 30 minutes. Like I really needed to start something else!!
Tom Geiger Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 That looks great! Your work looks straight and true. Is your rear door going to be fixed? Or will you have access to inside the box? And what was your source for the wheels and tires? They're perfect.
Brinx Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 Larry, nice looking mod-box. Looks like good use of extra van parts ( cut to make another van with extended wheelbase maybe?). Looking forward to updates on this one. brinx
signguy2108 Posted September 22, 2013 Author Posted September 22, 2013 Tom, still debating on the rear door, it's a shelf model, so not sure about making it work. The chassis & wheels are from a junkyard ford duallie that has been rebuilt several times. I'm working on the rear bumper now, updates later.
Eshaver Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 Interesting and unique ...................
signguy2108 Posted September 24, 2013 Author Posted September 24, 2013 Got a little more done today, rear bumper, frame extensions, cut 3/8" off the box height, first coat of primer. This turned into a "build for profit" today, a friend of mine wants it lettered up to put in his business office. More tommorow....
Evilbenny Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 Great job. Keep us posted on the build. I have the same idea in my "to build" pile.
kilrathy10 Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 Great work, Man.....This looks awesome....Excellent build...I like the simplicity of it....Very nice.....
mikemodeler Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 I recently bought a couple of these Ford vans on clearance at Hobby Lobby with the idea of a box truck and also a motorhome, thanks for the post, maybe I can get motivated with your pictures here! Nice job, should look good when it's done.
signguy2108 Posted September 25, 2013 Author Posted September 25, 2013 Paint day! Finished the bumper/trailer hitch (will be black later), painted body and wheels, will let it dry a day or two (krylon rattlecan). So I guess it's back to the big rigs for now...
signguy2108 Posted September 28, 2013 Author Posted September 28, 2013 Got a little more done yesterday, printed grille, gas filler, lights, etc.
