buffalobill Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 I like this project a lot. I've been wondering what to do w/ the Tamiya Jag sedan kit that I have - now I know what direction to take it. . . My only suggestion - hope that you don't mind - is, that I'd considering lengthening the doors approx. 6 scale inches (@ their trailing edge) to lessen the length of the rear side windows. Do you intend to keep it as a pillarless hardtop? I'm really looking forward to watching you finishing this!
buffalobill Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 Any updates on this build? I'd like to see you finish this!
frozono Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 Like the body work........... I will follow this one.........
jbwelda Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 Boy that is a neat look you got with the top chop. pure genius, and right up my alley. thanks! jb
Captain Obvious Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 Reminds me a bit of the Hot Wheels Fish'd&Chip'd... Looking good!
Skydime Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 Andy, I give you a lot of credit. You certainly have done great work on this and get tons of points on originality! I do agree with Bill on the longer doors if a two door is your intention. Either that or scribe a line for the rear doors as well. A four door custom with no center pillar looks really cool. But it's your build. Whatever you decide to do or not do, it still doesn't change the cool factor of this one.
Ajay Posted November 17, 2013 Author Posted November 17, 2013 (edited) Hi Bill & Ken, no problem, I originally used the existing front panel line of the rear door to save the need for scribing (which I dread) but looking at the body in primer & you're both right about the length of the door. Just a pic with the door lengthed about 3mm to try & balance things up a bit. You might just be able to see where the "old" panel line has been filled with plastic sheet. Thanks for the interest guys. Cheers Andy Edited November 17, 2013 by Ajay
buffalobill Posted December 12, 2013 Posted December 12, 2013 How about an update - this is going to be way too nice to let to gather dust on your workbench!
Ajay Posted December 14, 2013 Author Posted December 14, 2013 (edited) Hi Bill, sorry for the lack of updates - I did get as far as spraying up the body but managed to polish thru the clearcoat & couldn't get a good colour match on the damaged area so back to square one I'm afraid - hope to get a bit done over the xmas holiday (weather permitting). Regards Andy Edited December 14, 2013 by Ajay
jeffs396 Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 Now THAT'S something you don't see everyday! Very cool
DPNM Posted December 26, 2013 Posted December 26, 2013 I've wanted to get this kit 'cause it looks like one you can do something with and you most certainly have. Your vision of the car is super cool. Your execution on the build is fantastic!!! I really like it.
Ajay Posted March 9, 2014 Author Posted March 9, 2014 (edited) Hi all Progress ! Just a couple of pics of the body. The colour is HOK Brandywine over a silver base followed by Zero paints prer-thinned clear and a lot of "elbow grease" with polishing cloths and compound. Thanks for looking Andy Edited March 9, 2014 by Ajay
charlie8575 Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 Perfection. Very pretty, and a great re-style. The Mk. II looks very nice as a hardtop- too bad Jag didn't do one like that. Charlie Larkin
1 bad55 stan Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 I think it's fantastic,love the body work and the color,keep us posted...
bobthehobbyguy Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 Great color. Looks a little like a 49 merc from the side profile. Keep up the good work.
Ajay Posted March 23, 2014 Author Posted March 23, 2014 Looks great! How would you rate the Zero clear? Thanks Peter & sorry for delay in replying.I'd rate it as pretty good, I still have to use polishing cloths to get a glass smooth finish but thats probably more to do with the fact I tend to put 2 or 3 fairly thick coats on as I'm vary of polishing through to the basecoat.RegardsAndy
Bill J Posted March 23, 2014 Posted March 23, 2014 Fantastic looking Jag-U-ar. The color and the body work really set it off. Keep it coming mate!
